Our school chaplain left and married one of the nuns.
Our local priest had a Mistress for years...But he was wonderful. I simply considered her his wife.

Absolutely disgusting. The question I have is how do they know who is a homo and who isn’t? If they know because they have proof of some perverted act the person engaged in then I say good, let’s out them and kick them out. OTOH, if they’re just going to falsely accuse people then they will end up damaging a lot of good priests. These perverts are the real fascists.

Well, yeah, if you make the vow I guess you’d better keep it, but I’m questioning the necessity of the vow at all. If God had meant us to be celibate, why did he make so many cute guys?
True, but in this case it might not be so bad. If the homosexuals are outed maybe the church will get rid of this element and become a supporter of conservative principals.

Why so defensive?
I love Catholics. And I’m terrified that if I ask you for an actual quote from scripture that says priests can’t be married, you might dig one up.
Peter was married, for an example.
Catholics would have a much easier time getting good priests who were not gay if they would relax this ridiculous requirement ... if it’s so holy, why do they allow Episcopal priests who are married to become Catholic.
It’s all Church tradition which is not holy. Not wholly holy, anyway.
And it’s both tacky and irrelevant to bring up sins of protestants in this discussion.
That’s what I say. They may out (or smear) these priests, but they better be right about every one of them. Priests have rights and protections too.
