Climate change data dumped!!!!!!!!
Times Online (UK) ^ | November 29, 2009 | Jonathan Leake, Environment Editor

SCIENTISTS at the University of East Anglia (UEA) have admitted throwing away much of the raw temperature data on which their predictions of global warming are based.

It means that other academics are not able to check basic calculations said to show a long-term rise in temperature over the past 150 years.

The UEA’s Climatic Research Unit (CRU) was forced to reveal the loss following requests for the data under Freedom of Information legislation.

These folks are not to be trusted and they have bullied the honest scientists who are indeed out there. It’s now up to WE the people to make a powerful demonstration of not accepting the fraud any longer.

In a statement on its website, the CRU said: “We do not hold the original raw data but only the value-added (quality controlled and homogenised) data.”

I other words, the computer models needed the data changed in order to give the expected result, so the data was changed.

stepdaughter just left the house after a heated discussion on this whole subject shes in collage now ,

she defends it to the point of yelling non stop ., ( wish i pulled this thread up before she left )
she had no facts , she told me my facts are wrong , all i needed to do is watch gore's movie to find the truth ,
I about passed out from all of the blood rushing to my head ,
I asked what about the manipulated data they uncovered ?
she never heard of it ,
i asked what she knew on health care , she said it was good for every one , I asked why i should pay for illegals she stated O said they don't get it ,
he told them in miniappules wile back ,, I asked if she knew any thing about the prez, adviser's czars , i got a WHO ,

it all boils down to they are collage idiots unwilling to look at any thing out side of there new teachings , its more than just big government that needs to be cleaned out, O and his team isn't going to be slowed down by this little setback , Your RIGHT WING remember

You would be surprised at how little review there is from peers, especially the raw data, and with these guys they tended to cherry-pick for the journals anyway.

Yes, it’s a mess, but if there’s trillions of dollars at stake on the answer, you do the work anyway.

These guys are a joke.

The revised figures were kept, but the originals — stored on paper and magnetic tape — were dumped to save space when the CRU moved to a new building.

It burns me up, but corporations do this all the time to save money as they cubicle-ize and try to keep their records minimized in case of legal discovery (not wanting some comment to be taken out of context).

They trashed the data to keep it away from FOIA requests. I was wrong. I thought that the AGW was a hoax. Turns out it is an INTERNATIONAL CRIMINAL CONSPIRACY. These guys need to be in prison.

This isn't much of an explanation. The Library of Congress has 20 terabytes of archived books. The entire collection fits on 20 hard drives (i.e. less than a cubic foot of physical space).

The problem is, if you've checked out HARRY's README file, their data management was a mess. If it's like most of the the companies I've been in, there would have been little budget spent on managing that data properly and maintaining it in modern formats.

But I also believe that some people thought that by overwriting the original data with what they honestly thought was corrected data, they were helping things by making sure people didn't go back to it by mistake. On the other hand, I think some intentionally wanted it unavailable.

Yes, the data would have had to go through multiple steps of archiving. Microfilm/fiche, then conversion over to digital. Everybody who wanted no budget for these things in the 1980s is now complaining that the archiving didn’t occur. Heck, we almost threw away all of our satellite data at the end of the 80s (Dan Quayle came through with the funding to save the archive) and people are wondering why these volumous original records weren’t kept.

In the world of real science, if the data doesn’t exist the conclusions are invalid.

Except in the world of the socialists, where they get to make stuff up. Doesn’t matter that they’ve violated every part of the scientific method.

From that, I gather that bloggers are using the term Climategate whilst the news organizations are reporting on it.

(Heck I've got work files going back 8 or 10 years.)

So where are your original data files from 25 years ago?

The major TV networks in the U.S. are NOT reporting on the Climategate story in any fashion. It's not MINIMAL coverage. It is ZERO coverage. It's an intentional BLACKOUT by CBS, NBC and ABC of the biggest story to hit the Internet since ... actually, I can't think of a bigger story. It tells you everything you need to know about the MSM in the U.S.; they are as corrupt as CRU and have been in on this scam from the get-go. They have, once again, done serious damage to whatever is left (not much) of their reputations as legitimate news organizations. They are making the NYT and WP and LAT look like the Weekly Standard by comparison. At least those organizations are reporting on the story albeit with their normal Marxist bias.

I have client records which go back much farther than 25 years because the original data is still relevant.

An interesting example of how money concerns led to the loss of irreplaceable data that was in the news lately is how the original NASA video tape of the Apollo Moon landing was over written because of the price of computer tape.

If something that priceless gets lost because of budget constraints who knows what might get dumped.

I heard years ago that the design drawings of the Saturn 5 boosters were long gone.

I agree.

Climate Scientist may become a new euphemism similar to "a Lewinsky".

Google now has 11,000,000 plus hits on a Climategate search. How are CBS, NBC and ABC doing?

Of course, we all know that they have their eyes closed firmly shut, with their fingers in their ears, and are loudly yelling, "la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-......"

This is the other earth-shattering scandal, if any of the major news outlets (like Fox, WSG, Telegraph, etc.) want to report it.

What you just did with your screen captures of searches on the phrase, "Climategate" could easily be put on-screen in a television news segment. Let Fox do this at the top of every hour for a day, and the SRM would be tearing their hair out and running in circles screaming.
