(Mike Huckabee's) Statement Regarding Washington State Slayings
mikehuckabee.com ^ | 11-29-2009 | Mike Huckabee

Posted on 11/29/2009 8:59:16 PM PST by Gordon Greene

"The senseless and savage execution of police officers in Washington State has saddened the nation, and early reports indicate that a person of interest is a repeat offender who once lived in Arkansas and was wanted on outstanding warrants here and Washington State. The murder of any individual is profound tragedy, but the murder of a police officer is the worst of all murders in that it is an assault on every citizen and the laws we live within.

Should he be found to be responsible for this horrible tragedy, it will be the result of a series of failures in the criminal justice system in both Arkansas and Washington State. He was recommended for and received a commutation of his original sentence from 1990, making him parole eligible and was paroled by the parole board once they determined he met the conditions at that time. He was arrested later for parole violation and taken back to prison to serve his full term, but prosecutors dropped the charges that would have held him. It appears that he has continued to have a string of criminal and psychotic behavior but was not kept incarcerated by either state. This is a horrible and tragic event and if found and convicted the offender should be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law. Our thoughts and prayers are and should be with the families of those honorable, brave, and heroic police officers."

It was reported by some here that some of his pardons/commutations were for prisoners who worked the Governor's Mansion grounds and were able to make themselves aware to the Governor on a personal basis.

Those wanting to increase enforcement in regard to illegal aliens were judged to be bad Christians by the Governor. Not sure Governor's are supposed to be judging the quality of a person's religious practices but ok.

The Governor was a very compassionate conservative.

In recent polls, Huckabee is still considered the favorite for the GOP nomination in 2012 among evangelicals. That ingredient, plus his own treachery in West Virginia, is what got us McCain in 2008.

So, even if he’s not an announced candidate, his poll numbers need to be whittled down among evangelicals and if that voter block begins looking elsewhere, that could provide a big boost to Palin should she run.

It may also open the door to one or two more conservatives entering the ring to vie for that vote which is, in my mind, a good thing.

While the Beltway “wisdom” says Palin can’t win but Huckabee could, I believe it is just the opposite.

I’m still trying to find the original charges he faced, I can say this, he was convicted of aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon and using a gun in the commission of a crime.

He also had an extensive juvenile record, most is sealed, some was used to determine the 95 yr sentence.

What happened in W. Virginia re: Huckabee?

To be honest, I spent most of last election working against Obama that I didn’t pay as much attention to the GOP side as I should have.

No matter how this case turns out, Huckabee is toast. He’s done. Won’t ever win a primary. Won’t ever get to a general election. Even his fellow RINO Mitt Romney will clobber him over this because Romney pardoned nobody.

Fox News Channel should FIRE Huckabee’s ass ASAP. O’Reilly better go after Huckabee hard. Beck better, too. Reserve Huck’s time slot for Sarah Palin, who is mature enough to know the difference between INNOCENT HUMAN LIFE and guilty-as-sin human life. Huckabee is even a bigger joke now than he was before.

Yea, and look where that got us.

The only person IMO who was worth supporting last election cycle was Palin.

This situation should change minds. I’m what would be considered ‘evangelical’ and I’ve never liked this guy. He’s a weasel with that awww shucks demeanor. I agree with you regarding Sarah Palin. But 2012 is a long way off and we’ve got so much to contend with right now. I’m glad that truth keeps finding a way out though. imho MH is through.

Huckabee’s mealy-mouthed political class excuses show no accountability and are more of a Bart Simpson impression of a leftist; I didn’t do it, no one saw me do it, there’s no way you can prove anything! I pray he’s presidential dead meat; and dubbed Mike “The Huckster” Huckabee, known for selling of shoddy goods and things you don’t need. Further, the only thing he is big on is selling himself.

I heard him being interviewed this morning saying he had such a "great gig on Fox" that he may not run for office. I hope they fire his sorry butt. I never watched his show because I can't stand him but I'd be cool with him not running for office and losing his "great gig". Slime.

Huckabee is a perfect example of the religious LEFT in this country. He might as well be Al Sharpton. It’s mighty scary when someone from the religious LEFT has power. They forgive people before they deserve forgiveness. In fact, Bill Clinton (another church-going member of the religious LEFT) let FALN terrorists out of prison early before they even asked to be let out. I guess Clinton taught Huck everything he knows and doesn’t know. Another black eye for Arkansas. They have more black eyes than they have eyes.

Is that all he said ???

After he said...

“Should he be found to be responsible for this horrible tragedy, it will be the result of a series of failures in the criminal justice system in both Arkansas and Washington State.”

was something edited ??? Something like..

“I, myself, am numbered among those in authority who were responsible for this travesty”
