Police remove man who criticizes Kennedy at Brown forum

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Brown University police forcibly removed a man attending a panel discussion about the politics of health care this afternoon after the man told Rhode Island Congressman Patrick Kennedy: ``You're not Catholic if you force Catholics into funding abortion.''

Kennedy was one of four panelists at the discussion. After each panelist made brief introductory remarks, the 200 people in the audience were allowed to ask questions. Christopher Young, a perpetual candidate for several public offices in Rhode Island, was the second person to take the microphone.

As he made a loud and rambling statement about public funds being used for abortions, a small group of campus police approached. They asked Young to stop yelling. He refused. Eventually the police forced him to the ground and dragged him out of the hall.

The issue of national health care and abortion set off a public feud between Kennedy and Roman Catholic Bishop Thomas Tobin. The men have clashed for weeks over publicly financed abortion in legislation overhauling the nation's health care system.

The former Attorney General of Rhode Island, the top law enforcement official for Rhode Island, Arlene Violet, wrote an article that ran last week’s Valley Breeze newspapers in which she said that Brown University must drop the charges against 2010 Providence Mayoral Candidate Young (me) for an arrest that occurred at a public forum, violating my First Amendment Freedom of Speech and Freedom of Religion rights.

According to a Yahoo story, Ted Kennedy’s widow said Teddy must be looking down from Heaven smiling after the Health Care Bill vote in the Senate this morning.

I think Teddy, the murderer of Mary Jo and the greatest supporter of on demand Abortion, was looking up, not down.

Thank you for the correction Chris. From the article it sounded more like you were rambling on and on. I’ve seen that happen, and in that case the speaker more or less asks for intervention.

That does not seem to be the case in this instance. The description by the former Attorney General of the state made it clear, you did not stray very far from the ground rules in effect at the event.

I’m sorry to have come to the wrong conclusion earlier regarding your actions. I do appreciate you bringing to to my attention.

Has Brown made any indication subsequent to this commentary, that would lead you to think they will drop the charges?

I would hope that they would do so.

Please keep us informed on the matter.

I note that you signed up just before the end of the day, Christmas Eve local time here. Welcome.

Brown University owns over 350 pieces of property and has restricted my ability to campaign in those properties. They issued a no trespass order on me. I have stated for years that I want to tax them, the 350 pieces of property they pay no taxes on. Private police work only for the corporation not the people. This country is ending. A national civil rights group has offered help with my case. I am looking for a in state attorney but most fear Brown University. They are very powerful and have restricted my constitutional right to campaign now.

Christ, I don’t, but I wish you success with your effort.

Thank you for responding. It helps to know what the full situation is back there.

Take care.

Sounds wonderful. I apologize for falling for the spin and concluding you were a nut.

Good luck and God speed.
