RE :”I would guess he spearheaded it. The massive withdrawal from the money markets so close to the election and Soros’ history of destroying national economies for his own personal aggrandizement and his leftist agenda leaves little room for doubt that he was involved.

Here's what you have to believe to be a Bush-bot like Wpin and ohioWfan are. The great GWB economic boom, the greatest success story in mankind, was crashed all because G Soros withdrew his money from a bank or two. To destroy GWB legacy, and Obama elected, and beat McCain, Soros was willing to destroy the world economy. If only that mean George Soros kept his money in the bank, house prices would have continued to double every year or two, we could continue refinance our loans every year or two to pay the bills, and buy houses, cars, boats TVs and in fact give up work completely (we had illegals to do that for us). This was real economic growth. Paradise lost! ,

LOL, these bots really believe crazy stuff like this! Wouldn't you think the Chinese superpower would be a bit upset is this nonsense is true??? Morons!

What difference does "nobody had any expectations" have to do with anything?
Sandra Day O'Connor was a token female SC Justice and she was a disaster for conservatism.

And NOBODY knew she would turn out that way. If men with the stature of Goldwater and Reagan were unable to see into the future to determine that, you certainly couldn't either so don't be trying to blame them for something that was as unpredictable as Hurricane Katrina.

"Heck of a job there Brownie", lol

You know, some day, mk, I would like to see you make your case without the ad hominem, spurious personal attacks. If you get to that point, perhaps we could have a serious discussion of the issues.

Oh grow up fer gawdsakes. I made the following observation:

Here is where it gets really tricky for the BushBot/GWB-lovers Rabs, they can either go for the kneejerk “you’re just a Bush-hater” reaction (which is as close to being programmed into their DNA as breathing, lol)

And YOU saw a convenient excuse to start your usual whining and wailing because someone said something less than complimentary about "those individuals who express great affection and devotion to former President George W. Bush" ( TRANSLATION: groveling, genuflecting BUSHBOTS who elevate a mere mortal to something just below sainthood.)

Your problem (and the problem of every Bush-worshiper) is that you are unable to refute the facts that Rabscuttle385 stated in his post # 192. That is why you crank up that old wah-wah "ad hominem, spurious personal attacks" refrain because you don't have what it takes to defend your idol from historical fact. All you can do is whine.

I would think that someone who idolizes GWB as you do would at least make an attempt to defend his illusory 'legacy'.

I will repeat......President Bush was conservative in many areas

Expanding the size of Government in areas that are not explicitly authorized by the Constitution is NOT conservative. At least Reagan tried to slow the growth of Government; in contrast, Bush reveled in expanding the Government, enlarging the Department of Education through No Child Left Behind, creating a whole new bureaucratic monster in the Department of Homeland Security, and handing out taxpayer dollars--present and future dollars, mind you--left and right around the world.

and did many conservative things.

The ends do not justify the means.

If they did, then abortion--even partial-birth abortion--would in some cases be justified if it resulted in a life-saving treatment for another individual.

Our troops under George W. Bush liberated millions

So basically, Bush bought the "freedom" of millions of non-Americans at the expense of the freedom of millions of present and future Americans whose future tax dollars are now spoken for as a result, and he did it without their consent.

If that isn't anti-American, anti-freedom, and straight out irresponsible, I don't know what is.

The purpose of the United States armed services is to provide for a common defense of United States territory, property, and lawful residents, PERIOD.

You--and those like you--however, are welcome to engage in any other purposes on your own dime. If the freedom of foreign nationals means so much to you, you are free to spend your own time and funds on such a goal, however, you are not free to force (and that is what Government does, by the way) others' funds to be allocated towards such purposes.

George W. Bush was NOT a true conservative. Was he more conservative than say, Bill Clinton? Sure. Was he more conservative than the Marxist Kenyan usurper we’re dealing with in the White House right now? Yeah, GWB was more conservative than 0bama.

I sincerely wish so-called "conservatives" would cease and desist their engagement in wishy-washy political relativism. What some term as "pragmatism" is nothing more than mere cowardice and a willingness to compromise with the statists, but then again, there are "conservatives" who are themselves statists.

RE :” Our troops under George W. Bush liberated millions” (Wpin to Engineer_Soldier at #67)

Then let them pay our US national debt since GWB and his buddy Obama left the country broke. But those ‘ liberated millions ’ wont pay a dime of all the money borrowed and spent freeing them, Because they either hate us, dislike us, or are indifferent.

The countries Reagan liberated (without an invasion) love him to this day, GWB is hated, that is what he bought us on the national credit card.

Dick Cheney went on NBC Meet the Press in 2003 and promised Iraq oil would pay for reconstruction if we invaded.

W outranks Reagan in area of Judge appointees? If so, it wasn’t W’s choosing. Remember Harriet Miers?

Alito and Roberts are about the only things Bush did right, eventually. But what these Bush bots ignore is Reagan had a democrat majority Senate that defeated nominees, ie Bork. Bush had a republican congress that couldnt block Alito and Robert’s. Yet, Bots blame Bush’s problems on others.

You or I don’t have to apologize to anyone for what we believe, but I do expect my views will be challenged from time to time. When they are sometimes I will defend them sometimes I’ll just move along.

I’ll trade with you... here’s one that may get me in trouble. I don’t think America as a whole was unprepared for a black president, but hyphenated-Americans in general don’t seem to be ready for a socialist President. The problem is the people who are willing to take a hand out even if it comes from Satan, himself. And that includes caucasions who don’t mind being leeches.

If America would stand and do the right thing then who is or is not President and the policies they shove down our throats would have a smaller effect on America’s future and America’s economy. 0 is the wrong man at the prime time because the heart of America is diseased.

Thank you for your explanation... I don’t feel you owed me or anyone else here anything.

GG

Synopsizes my POV better than I could've, myself.
For me, nothing more need be said.

If one doesn't 'get' the above sentiments, they're a large portion of why the problems are assured to continue, forevermore.

Sadly back in 2003 I was convinced it was right, it would all work out, that we would get oil out of it (like Cheney promised.)

"Sadly back in 2003 I was convinced it was right, it would all work out, that we would get oil out of it (like Cheney promised.)"

Granted.
To an extent, I too felt the same way.

However.
Being a veteran I was really --really-- uncomfortable with sending our precious citizens over there to die on behalf of peoples I considered, ahhhh, uncivilized? Not animals, but certainly not "civilized" as the west defines the term.

There was, IMO, a damned good & logical reason their ruler ruled as he did and it wasn't because it was a nation of kind, gentle people demanding a softy.
All aside from the point, though.

Point is: IF a direct threat existed to the USA?
Our tax dollars for decades have went to a military industrial complex which in turn has provided the republic weapons so fantastic they boggle the imagination.

Used in conjunction with satellite surveillance and some damned TOUGH NO NONSENSE DEMANDS *with* easily understood & short time deadlines? These fantastic weapons sh/c/would've been hailed upon the buggers until they capitulated, unconditionally. Period. War's over in minutes at a cost to us all we could deal with, not the loss of our precious irreplaceable loved ones.

Not one drop of American blood must EVER be spilled on behalf of peoples who, if they valued their own freedoms so much, would insist whatever blood's shed be their own.

What is done is done; but, the same damned mistake has been executed with aplomb again, in Afghanistan. Dammit anyway.

Why I feel as much as Iran needs to be knocked out cold, really smashed, and hard? It's up to the Iranian peoples to shed the required blood, for themselves, not anyone else!
Else they'll never value Liberty, never-mind holding on to it.

Now should Iran threaten us or our allies with their damnedable new nuke toys? The entire nation of Iran *&* every single one of the people living within must cease to exist. Period.

If I were leading the USA?
[That'd] be precisely what I'd hand write the asshole leading Iran in a very short note. Trust me, there'd be no question(s) from the idiot.

You liberty-ers just dont understand terrorism like the Bush bots do (I am an expert on them) :

“We fought them there so we dont fight them here”

“GWB kept you alive. you were next on Saddam’s list”

“Iraq was just a stepping stone for the terrorists to get to the USA”

“Iraq cost us next to nothing, it paid for itself”

“Saddam was bad”

“GWB was good”

“It’s all Clinton’s fault”

“It’s all Obama’s fault”

“You liber-lefties hate america too. Go back to DU”

The citizens don’t own guns like we do. Obama would have taken us completely over had we not owned guns.

We should bomb ALL of Iranian weaponry TODAY. There would be few casualties, and that would shut ol Mahmood’s trap for a long time.

Apparently no one told the Taliban & Al-Qaeda that, steph.

There were forces supplying the Viet Cong arms just as there were forces supplying both the above groups IEDs etc.

We were supplying the blood.

You know, I think I still sounded a bit arrogant in my reply. I didn't mean to be and if I came across that way I apologize. I said what I did with a sincere heart, and you really did make me stop and think and get my thoughts and ideas in order.

I think we are very similar in our views and I'm glad to have had this chance to bounce ideas around and further clarify myself. I think we both want the same things from our government and I pray that we get them.

Take care.
