The Real Copenhagen Agenda: The U.N.'s climate chief tells all.

Phil Jones, director of the research program at the center of "climategate," temporarily stepped down from his post Tuesday. And last week, Pennsylvania State University said it would launch an inquiry into the conduct of Michael Mann, one of its professors and perhaps the world's most prominent paleoclimatologist.
Messrs. Jones and Mann have both been key contributors to the U.N.'s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. The emails leaked from the University of East Anglia's Climatic Research Unit two weeks ago revealed, among many inconvenient truths, the corruption of the IPCC's process of assessing climate science. Still, despite the probes into some of the IPCC's key participants, the chair of that body insists nothing rotten is about to happen in the state of Denmark, where world leaders are set to debate sweeping policies based on IPCC conclusions.
"It is a very transparent, a very comprehensive process which insures that even if someone wants to leave out a piece of peer reviewed literature there is virtually no possibility of that happening," Rajendra Pachauri told the Guardian on Sunday, adding that "people who are aware of how the IPCC functions and are appreciative of the credibility that the IPCC has attained will probably not be swayed by an incident of this kind."
But the heightened awareness of the IPCC's functioning seems precisely what now plagues the U.N.'s global warming frontman. So it's not surprising that, for all his insistence that the group's methods are spotless, he seems eager to change the subject from science. What he has chosen to talk about instead is instructive. It seems what most concerns Mr. Pachauri now is not climatology, or glaciology, or oceanographybut the way we live. "Today we have reached the point where consumption and people's desire

Rather, to judge by his recent public statements, he is more focused on an ideological economic agenda in which climate change is little more than a useful tool.To most of us here I don't think that is any sort of revelation. ALL socialists are socialists first and only to the extent that any cause that can be used to propel socialism will be adopted and advocated whether it be based on facts, desires, whim, or calculated lies. As soon as the cause becomes detrimental to socialism it is dropped.

Okay, okay. That’s what it’s all about. I get it now. (Well, I always got it, but you have to make the lefties think you are confused and are struggling to see it. You just can’t up and call them dishonest brokers.) It’s all about the money. Okay. That’s fine. At least we can all talk about it openly now.

My interpretation of all the information we have recently uncovered is this: “Send we 3rd World Countries more money or we will export terrorism to your countries, and we will kill your sons and rape your women.” This is just another way to hide the extortion that is really going on. We went through it with the Shah of Iran and taking the dollar off the gold standard, we went through it with the oil embargoes, our ancestors when through it with the Barbary pirates and the Pirates of the Caribbean. It's the same old story dressed up in ‘high tech’ costumes. Okey-dokey. Now that we all know, what do we reply? There IS nothing new under the sun. Same old, same old. Sheesh.

In other words, if Mr. Pachauri is sanguine about the undermining of the IPCC's scientific methods, it's because his chief concern isn't the science at all. Rather, to judge by his recent public statements, he is more focused on an ideological economic agenda in which climate change is little more than a useful tool.
Pachauri's counterpart in the US is a scientist (though of lost objectivity), James Hansen. He too in his public statements is more focused on ideology with utterances that compare coal-fired power plants to "death factories."

Actually what I like about this article is that it proves that from time to time, you can get a lefty to honestly(almost always accidently) say what their agenda really is.

Copenhagen Climate Conference to Create 'Huge' Carbon Footprint
Thursday , December 03, 2009
By Joshua Rhett Miller
Talk about your global warming . . . When an estimated 16,500 delegates, activists and reporters descend upon Copenhagen Monday for the United Nations Climate Change Conference, a lot of hot air will follow.
The U.N. estimates the 12-day conference will create 40,584 tons of carbon dioxide equivalents, roughly the same amount as the carbon emissions of Morocco in 2006.
Those greenhouse gas emissions are comprised of two parts: international travel and local emissions from hotels and transportation venues.

In my 1992 book SCIENCE FUNDING: POLITICS AND PORKBARREL, I argued that Federal funding had corrupted the scientific enterprise. Even then, scientists were chasing the "trendy" topics where the funding agencies were putting money.
The end result has been that scientists not only chase the topics the funding agencies want chased, they lie to keep the money flowing.

"Today we have reached the point where consumption and people's desire to consume has grown out of proportion," I see population control popping out of that statement. Those that consume the lest will be the first to go.
