The High Costs of Copenhagen -What Obama's pledge to reduce emissions by 83% would mean
Teh Wall Street Journal ^ | DECEMBER 3, 2009, 8:05 P.M. ET | RICHARD K. LESTER

When President Obama goes to the Copenhagen climate change summit next week, he is expected to once again declare that the U.S. will reduce its carbon emissions 83% by 2050. Even though no legally binding agreement is expected, what Mr. Obama says in Denmark will define the U.S. position in subsequent international negotiations. He will not say how the cuts will be accomplished. For Americans, the details are worth knowing.

Annual U.S. carbon-dioxide emissions currently average about 5.5 tons of carbon per person. Achieving Mr. Obama's goal would mean reducing this to 0.63 tons per person by midcentury, taking expected population growth of just under 1% per year into account. If the rest of the world were to do likewise, global carbon dioxide emissions would be 25% lower than today.

Many climate scientists think this would put the world on track to avoid the worst consequences of climate change. Of course, other countries may well have a different view of global equity. This includes China, which in the president's version would have to reduce its rapidly increasing per capita emissions to half the current level by 2050.

Most anthropogenic CO2 emissions come from fossil fuels, so there are two main routes to achieving the president's goal. First, the U.S. must reduce the share of fossil fuels—currently 85%—in the energy supply system, which includes everything from electricity generation and transportation to industrial uses. And second, Americans must use energy more efficiently.

The more we do of one, the less we'll need of the other. But ultimately what's required will depend on America's future economic growth.

Not going to happen. Any politician who seeks to impose a lower standard of living on his constituents is going to be looking for another line of work.

Any politician who seeks to impose a lower standard of living on his constituents..

Guess again. The Democratic constituency will still vote for the Maxine Walters and Babs Boxer because the evil Pubbies are to blame and the welfare checks just keep on comin'.

There has been a plethora of evidence from REAL scientists put out in the last years = derided, of course, by the goricles and ignored by the MSM - but what about US?

This refuting evidence has been available for anyone who does a tiny bit of research - without breaking a sweat.

We have the Internet. We have GOOGLE. We have YouTube.

Last year, I sent these articles - had a long list of them - everywhere I could think: all the media and in FR. I finally gave up as no one, even in FR, responded.

Besides, During last winter, one of the bitterest I can remember (and I’m a great grandmother) was too busy lugging wood in and keeping my stove going and my toes warm.

But I’ll post this Part one of one of many exposes - they’d be perfect now for FOX news to air - (go to the side bar on YouTube for lots of debunking - actually, I’ve posted a better link for everyone below)

At the very least, this would be a good video for showing as it’s super simple for the general public to understand - and they would be a lot harder to fool again/

“It’s the Sun Spots, Stupid”

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0BmWy6Nsm6I&feature=related

I’m going to email the above to our regulars: if they get enough emails on one subject, they will run with it.

glennbeck@foxnews.com

hannity@foxnews.com

oreilly@foxnews.com

greta@foxnews.com

rush@eibnet.com

Sarah’s FB - http://www.facebook.com/home.php#/sarahpalin?ref=ts

If you email them, do not mass email - send individually or they won’t get looked at.

I’m simply putting my title:

“It’s The Sun Spots, Stupid” and the video link

If we, the ‘little people’, go viral on this to let the media know we’re not going to let this be swept aside again - we can win this. We have a small window - will we take it?

I’ve lost my email adds. to the MSM - as I said, I was busy last winter - and it’s getting downright cold again.

Maxine Waters, Barbra Boxer, Chuck Shumer, Nancy Pelosi, et. al. will always be voted in by their welfare constituency, the dead and an assortment of cartoon characters.

Climategate or not a deal will be struck at Copenhoaxen.

If I were a betting man, I would say that the Climategate scandal will die away in short order, even though there is plenty of evidence to prove it has all been a hoax.

Today at work the subject came up about “climate change”. Two women and four guys. Not one of them believe the emails are true. The ladies believe the emails were made up to try to stop Obama. All pointed to the temp today (upper 60’s today in Mass and NH) and said that there definitely is something wrong with the climate.

Now these people are educated folks; business manager, software engineer, and electrical/mechanical engineers.

The statement “we have to do something” kept coming up.

The whitewashing seems to be working quite well unfortunately. And only the conservative websites and news blogs are talking about the scandal.

What do the people around you folks believe?

I see nothing but bad legislation in the future for this garbage.

You are right, of course. We should send information and comments on our displeasure to those who should make a difference. We can hope it will make an impact, but the fear is that the elite’s mind set is such that the truth is of no consequence.
