Morning Joe Guest: ClimateGate Scientists Being 'Swiftboated'
NewsBusters ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Posted on 12/04/2009 5:02:48 AM PST by governsleastgovernsbest

Fake but accurate rides again! The same lame defense Dan Rather used in Memogate has been trotted out on ClimateGate by Columbia Univ. Prof. Jeffrey Sachs.

Appearing on Morning Joe today, the author of Common Wealth [note play on words: your money is our money] alleged that the real victims in this scandal are . . . the number-fudging scientists. People are attempting to "Swiftboat" those poor CRU guys, sighed Sachs. For good measure, the good professor asserted that "what happened is not a very big deal."

Wow! I can remember when getting caught in a lie was a BAD thing.

Now it's just another reason to be 'offended'.

In a nutshell, the state of anthropogenic global warming (the real issue, not the catchall "climate change") is:

1) Climategate has revealed fraudulent science, sloppy science, and political maneuvering to subvert peer review and good scientific process.
2) Recent research has definitively discredited the computer models that indicate that increasing CO2 will result in severe, runaway warming.
3) The paleoclimate record shows that our current climate is not at all unusual.
4) The last few years have shown no warming, instead, slight to moderate cooling depending on what dataset you use.
5) Ocean and CO2 levels are rising at a slower than expected rate, consistent with (3) above.

Conclusion: There is NO "global warming crisis" to justify wrecking our economy, lowering our standard of living, and transferring countless billions of dollars to "poor" countries. We must not stand for a single penny of taxpayer money to be spent on this fraud, and further we must repeal the absurd "CO2 is pollution" legislation.

That is a true statement, Kerry was attacked with the truth and so are these “scientist”.

Which is exactly why these individuals should not be called "scientists." Call them what they are, "charlatans."

That’s because conservatives and Republicans are often attacked with something other than the truth....

Anybody who uses the term “Swiftboat” in discussing AGW is revealing a deeper political agenda. Makes it easier to dismiss what they are saying.

Mark Levin calls it the “Morning Shmo”.

The schm- prefix.

Joe->schmoe

Oedipus->schmoedipus

Doctor: Madam, your son has an Oedipus complex.

Boy's mother: Oedipus, Schmoedipus! What does it matter as long as he loves his mother!

Wow! I can remember when getting caught in a lie was a BAD thing.

so true - If you don’t want to get swiftboated, don’t lie.

My big problem with this is that the left has successfully shifted the focus to the emails and away from the altered data.

If corporate financial data were altered in this way the liberal congresscritters would be all over it like stink on poop. I wonder if some new compliance law will be written to make sure that this doesn’t happen again, ala SOX regulations that bean counters must document and follow to the letter.

Jeffrey Sachs rants about the "religious right" and "separation of church and state":

"No Place for Piety" The New Scientist, November 8, 2003

He was upset because Bush wasn't funding "family planning" (i.e. abortion) worldwide.

You mean global warming is seared -- SEARED!! -- into their memory?

I didn't know that Mann, Jones, Briffa, and Hansen had been to Viet Nam or Cambodia.

Cheers!

Convienent to forget the Swift Boater were telling the TRUTH

LOL! Exactly.

Swiftboating is truth telling.

Exactly. An "Inconvenient" Truth.

And the "scientific" studies these clowns are producing are
"UNFIT FOR PUBLICATION".

Cheers!
