US President Barack Obama has changed his plans to attend the UN summit on climate change in Copenhagen next week, the White House has announced.

He will arrive later than initially planned, moving his appearance from 9 December to 18 December.

The White House said he believed "that continued US leadership can be most productive through his participation at the end of the Copenhagen conference".

The summit aims to draw up a treaty to succeed the 1997 Kyoto Protocol.

The president had changed his plans after talks with other leaders and after seeing "the progress that has already been made to give momentum to negotiations".

Climate fund support

US representatives will attend the Copenhagen summit throughout negotiations, the White House added.

It said the president believed recent progress included the emissions reduction target announced by the US; China and India setting targets for the first time to reduce their carbon intensity and moves by members of the Commonwealth.

The White House said the president had discussed the state of the negotiations with Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, French President Nicolas Sarkozy and British Prime Minister Gordon Brown.

He concluded there appeared to be growing support for the suggested $10bn annual fund to help developing countries deal with climate change.

Come hell or high water,Obama will redistribute America’s wealth to other countries.

Whether climate change is real or not he said he would cure hunger by 2016. He meant the greedy white American’s will pay.

So twice the carbon footprint as he jets to and from Copenhagen twice in one month. So glad we taxpayers are rolling in dough to finance this globetrotting.

Two round trips to Europe in one month?

With two or three huge jets, SS agents and the carbon footprint bigger than anyone in the world?

How hypocritical can it get?

Gordon Brown applauds ObamaZilla’s decision. Brown, friend of George Soros who has bankrupted his people.

Hopefully Sarkozy will put Obama in his place again.

I don’t think the whistle blower has been identified yet.

As far as Obama is concerned, Australia’s decision to dump cap and trade was a bad omen for Copenhagen and I agree that he’s stalling to see how this plays out.

Meanwhile, it’s becoming quite a game watching the MSM twist in the wind hoping that Climategate dies out but seeing it grow in importance day by day instead.

There’s just too much “there” there to ignore it much longer.

My Daddy used willow switches to get my undivided attention...

We have their attention. They don't care! They will not back off until they are forced to back off. Their marxist agenda is more important than any "constituency in name only". I'm convinced the only way to deal with this threat is to eliminate it.

Obama’s offer reflects figures in a bill narrowly passed by the House of Representatives in June, but yet to be confirmed by the Senate.

US to pay 3 billion a year. No doubt to the UN who do as they please with the money. China and India want their share also.

Obama decided the AGW progress was very good after conversing with Australia’s Prime Minister, Mr.Rudd. Very cheeky, Mr. Rudd just had his Carbon scheme rejected by the Aussie Parliament. LOL

As maddening as this enormous waste of time, money and national integrity is, this weird retreat strategy is worth a few snickers. Perhaps he’s hoping to redirect our attention so that we won’t notice him quietly opting out of Copenhagen.

This means that the administration can’t call the outcome of Copenhagen and don’t want to walk in on an Animal House food fight. They’ll wait until the dust settles and come up with some semantic pretzels that will try to make him and his science staff not look like the Pinky Lee show.

This should put some heat on the American nets. It's CBC's Rex Murphy in a pretty scathing assessment.

Obama needs to go to copenhagen. It further displays his fecklessness. What a wasted carbon footprint he is. I propose renaming AF1 “Carbon Footprint One”.
