Saudi Arabia and Jordan, tyrannical monarchies, are arch enemies of Israel, a democracy, and thus so would any freind of Israel (that would be us).
Saudi Arabian and Jordanian subjects have financially supported Wahhabism and Barack Obama to the detriment of our citizenry. Those two are not our allies - never have been allies because we’re NOT a muslim country (no matter what Obama states).
Iran, with nukes or without, is presently in a perilous political and economic situation, both at home and globally. Trying to conquer Saudi Arabia is, quite frankly, stupid on their part because they will now be overextended militarily and financially. Besides, conquest is messy. It is impossible to predict the outcome, and once the fighting starts is can end up anywhere, strategically speaking.
As for petroleum, it is about time we started to drill, drill, drill! We Americans can perform pretty damn well in a crunch.
