Personally, I don’t have a problem with the Muslims fighting each other. It’s kinda like the Dems in the US fighting each other. .....The results may be beneficial.
I might be wrong on this, but I believe that the
Wahhabis are actually Sunnis and, inasmuch as the current Saudi Arabian regime lavishly funds the Wahhabis, they would almost certainly be in opposition to any Shia revolt against the Saudi status quo.
They've opened Pandora's Box, and it was just a matter of time before they also felt the repercussions.
And, they have this notion that the USA will ride in on a white horse and save them. Not going to happen with Obamalamadingdong in the Whitehouse......

The substance of the piece is ignored in order to show the commonplace bigotry and bash Saudi Arabia for uncommitted sins.
The essence of the piece is that the moderate Arab Nations, being Jordan and Saudi Arabi, are now in a shooting war with Iran.
The conclusion from the events is unequivocally that Iran has moved the pressure to another weak nation and quite actively continue the quest for dominance of Islam. Iran knows the chickenshit president of the United States will not lift a finger to oppose them.
Rather than proudly bash, a better course would be to crawl back under rocks and quiver in fear. The war is on

Re the Pandora’s Box metaphor, I suspect that you may be right. If the islamist terrorist strife could be turned from its current broadly anti-western focus to an openly gostile revival of the bitter and traditional Sunni-Shia schism, it offer short term benefits in causing the terrorists to divert their attention from the west. But such a development might also have troubling potential consequences with respect to long term instabilities in the oil market, potential for outbreak of a real Mideast shooting war, and the possibility that the “wrong” (from our point of view) side might ultimately win out. This would not be a political struggle that would be over and done with in 6 months through outside imposition of some peace settlement; it would be a fanatical religious war that would go on for decades until one or both sides became exhausted.
My opinion, for whatever it’s worth.
Yes, remember those golden times, the years when Sadam and the Iranian mullahs were kicking the dog poo out of each other. No time for anything but muslims killing muslims then. Let’s bring our troops back until we have a real commander in chief (in the mold of Washington, and not Pee Wee Herman) and let the shiahs and sunnis get back to killing those they hate the MOST, one another.

The only reason the Saudi family has managed to stay in power is because of their “We protect the mosques at Mecca and Medina” schtick. Other than that they’d have no ground, because everyone hates them. Of course the Shi’ites in the east hate them (they remember how the Saud family took away their land from them) and the Hijazis *really* hate them for pushing the Hashemite family, which had been there for 700 years, out of the Hijaz and taking over Mecca and Medina.
The Saud family has had their weakness paraded before the world in the Grand Mosque seige, when they had to fall back on the infidel US to protect them from Iraq, then from the “Saudi Hezbollah” Shi’ites bombing the Khobar Towers, and now when Shi’ites from Yemen are infiltrating their borders. Sooner or later people are going to have enough of this and realize the weakness of the Saudi family. Civil war may break out. That’s code for “start drilling in ANWR & offshore.”
The USAF already uses the Fischer–Tropsch process for their aviation fuel.
We dannot do without the oil from the Persian Gulf at present. We don’t depend upon it oruselves as much as one might think, but Euroope does and so does Japan.
If the United States Air Force is producing synthetic fuels for their airplanes we can produce it for commercial use.
