That's sickening. I've heard in the old USSR it was standard practice for the voters to be plied with vodka to get them down to the precinct.
Today in my neighborhood a young guy & girl came by claiming to be "working with the registrar of voters". They asked if people with the names on the voter list they held still lived at the house I was standing in front of (it was mine, but they didn't ask). At first I said "yes he does ... yes she does ...", but then I asked them to prove who they worked for. They produced a card that indicated they were working for the Democratic Party. I told them they were misrepresenting who they were working for, and to get the he## out of here.
I wonder if they were looking for people who no longer belong on the voter rolls (moved away, died, etc.) so they could safely mail in the votes for those former voters come election time. There is one person listed in my household who hasn't used my address to vote in years, and I'd have gladly informed the real Registrar of that fact, but not someone with axes to grind. I don't think this county purges anyone from the voter rolls anymore - it's ripe for fraudsters. Loretta Sanchez beat out Dana Roherbacher here with the help of documented (but dismissed) voter fraud.
Suspicious me, but I wouldn't put it past the Democrats to use such a method to steal votes.
