Gee, how many years has it been since Japan was hit by that terrorist subway chemical attack. (Serin gas.) And just now the T is mulling over how air flow acts in the subway. Good job. Better late than never.

Now if the T could only tweak the airflow so as to minimize the urine smell at Andrew station...

It was something like 1994 that Japan’s ShinRiKyou attacked the Tokyo subway system with Sarin. The incident killed only 5 or so, but sent something like 10,000 scared people to the hospital, perhaps more. The Sarin development effort was performed entirely via contributions from religious believers. The group’s twisted teachings said that they were trying to bring about Armageddon.

They had also been VERY active in trying to gas all of TOkyo —they were going to use Anthrax, and a Russian Mi-26 helicopter that they had somehow purchased.

In fact, they had performed several previous attacks, but these went undetected, as the gas dispersed too fast to claim victims. For this reason they attacked the subway —lots of people, and the air is confined, and almost in an arrested state.

In fact, the group had twice as many believers in Russia as they had ever gotten in Japan.

There were other details about the case, but they’re even scarier, and they would sound FICTIONAL if I typed them here.
