Many people in Baldwin and Wilkinson Counties say they felt a tremor Sunday.
The U.S. Geological Survey's website confirmed an earthquake with a 3.2 magnitude in southern Baldwin County just before 7:30 p.m.
The website says the quake was about 7 miles west of Deepstep in Washington County and 12 miles east-southeast of Milledgeville.
Linda Webster from Milledgeville called the 13WMAZ newsroom and said she felt the tremble.
"It was like a big truck rumbling," she said.
Dwayne Hancock, who lives between Milledgeville and Gordon, said he felt the quake around 7: 25 p.m. He said it shook the glass around his fireplace, but didn't cause any damage. He described it as a "soft rumble."
No one who called the Eyewitness Newsroom reported any damage or injuries.

Georgia is on a big faultline, though not very active. Here lately we have been having earthquakes here pretty regular. I’ve never experienced one in my life of living here and Tennessee, but I’ve experienced about five in the past year. Strange.

Wouldn’t it be ironic if, with all the talk and speculation of the big one hitting Kalifornia that it actually hit the east coast?

So...are we going with “Bush’s Fault” or “AGW”???

I’ll never forget the one in Michigan — yes, Michigan! — in the mid-80’s. A tremor was the last thing I expected. I thought the cat jumped on the bed...until I realized he was locked out of my room!

I felt one in New York City in 1985. It woke me up out of a sound sleep, and I was sure that the subway, which ran under my building, had derailed. Epicenter was in Scarsdale, but the granite transmitted the energy very well.

You might be not that far off. I recently read an article about field stone. It claimed if surface stone was rounded, then it was glacier formed. If the stone was jagged, then it was earthquake formed. Being originally from SW PA, I built quite a few dry stacked field stone walls in my day. They were all jagged. Makes one think. Today I reside in central FL, nothing but sugar sand.

OUR GREATEST CONCERNS ARE THE 6.0-7.6 SIZED EVENTS, which do have significant probabilities in the near future. A 6.0 shock has a 90% chance by the year 2040. Damaging earthquakes of this magnitude are a virtual certainly within the lifetimes of our children.
