Sacramento Freezing Temps Prompt Emergency Homeless Shelter Opening [First Snow in 30 Years]

SACRAMENTO, CA - With bone-chilling temperatures and the possibility of Sacramento snow in the forecast beginning Sunday night, Sacramento's Loaves and Fishes announced the opening of a temporary shelter for the homeless.

The Delaney Center at 12th and Ahern streets in Sacramento was expected to open at 7 p.m. Sunday and could accomodate up to 50 people, according to Loaves and Fishes pastor David Moss.

"This isn't just bone-chilling weather. This is life-threatening weather," Moss said. Forecasts called for temperatures to drop to 32 degrees Sunday night.

Apparently the last time Sacramento saw snow was 1976. I haven't seen it outside the foothills in the 15 years I've been here.

The folks in Copenhagen are extremely busy averting their eyes.

Of course, this actually proves that global warming is occurring.

Anything and everything proves it.

There is no way to disprove it.

The models were carefully constructed so that no empirical evidence of any kind could possibly falsify them.

This is not the first snow in the Sac Valley in 30 years. We had several inches of the white powder in 1986 or 1987. And, a light dusting occurred in the mid to late 90’s.

The term Global Warming is so 2008. It’s “Climate Change” now. That way the lefties are covered, no matter which way the temps go. But it’s always caused by humans, that we can be sure of. The sun has nothing to do with it.

How much do you think Axelrod's firm was paid by taxpayers to come up with that one?

The cold storm system dropping from the northeast out of Canada will be unusual since the coldest temperatures will bypass Northern California communities such as Red Bluff and Redding but drop Sacramento Valley temperatures Monday to a record 27 degrees.

That's the coldest for Dec. 7 since the National Weather Service began tracking temperatures in Sacramento in 1849.

The city of Sacramento last had 2 inches of snow in February 1976.

Lived in Sac for 4 years. Don’t recall any snow, but I do remember some nasty sleet storms.
