Families prepare for monster surf hazards

SUNSET BEACH (HawaiiNewsNow) - It could be the biggest surf Hawaii has seen in the past 40 years.

Although the surf calmed down a bit on Sunday, some North Shore of Oahu residents prepared for the worst.

Sunset Beach pumped up the hundreds who came to see the big wave spectacular.

"We saw that they were big on Surf Net News and thought we'd check it out," Ewa Beach resident Scott Brown said.

On Sunday, waves were around 15 feet. But on Monday, they're predicted to be as tall as 50 feet.

"This looks to be a very, very large event, beyond what we consider to be a classic North Shore winter surf, it could be hazardous, we could see some damage to our coastal areas, hopefully not to homes, but we could see road closures," City Department of Emergency Management's John Cummings said.

Indeed. Especially if he’s called over to Oahu’s windward side.

Well CNN had a story on this and the best part is from
this guy John Cummings who is obviously mentally challenged.
The quote is

“We are also concerned of possible damage to homes on the shorelines and also the hazard to all of our residentially-challenged families living on the beaches,” said John Cummings, with Oahu Civil Defense.

It was forty years ago that Greg Noll rode the largest wave ever paddled into at Makaha.

Da Bull is one of my heros.
