Staying up all night. Missing classes and work. The cold. The exacting rules. None of that stopped hundreds of Minnesotans from lining up to see Sarah Palin Monday at her book signing at the Mall of America.
Before dawn, about 500 people snaked in a line about a quarter-mile long at the mall for the chance to interact with the former Republican vice presidential nominee.
The mall stop is part of Palin's tour to smaller cities across the country to promote her book, "Going Rogue."
By 11:40 -- a full 20 minutes before her scheduled noon event -- Palin ascended the stage to cheers from the crowd, joined by baby Tryg and her husband, Todd Palin.

I was listening to a local talker this am @5:30....A gal called in who was standing in line at the time and said ‘conservatively’ 800-1000 in line.....
Of course 500 people can stand in a line shorter than 1/4 mile i doubt there is three feet of space between every person waiting in line.
Palin shows up 20 minutes early to meet small town people. Obama shows up 2 hours late to announce a troop level increase in Afghanistan.
Run ‘Cuda, run. Then we will know (of a certainty) what you are made of.

Yup; late in the article:
Critics, including independent reviewers and former McCain staffers, have questioned the veracity of book's tales.
Some McCain folks have said the book, which includes some sharp criticisms of her treatment during the 2008 presidential race, is designed as political payback.
In spite of this, the article quoted a couple of young adults and one 14-year old girl who were excited about meeting her.

Sarah shows up 20 min early to meet thousands that voluntarily came out for their own reasons - Zero shows up 2 hrs. late after compelling (by virtue of his office) military cadets to show up 3 hours early after a L-O-N-G ass day of study and PT.
Would Sarah have had to compel the cadets? Would she have been hours late? (I don't think so)
