There were procedures that allowed registry of the birth at the DoH even if there had not been an actual midwife or physician present.
The way to address these kinds of loopholes is to require candidates to submit the long form certificate; or the copy of the original source document.

Sure, Dr. Orly makes mistakes. We all do. But Dr. Orly is no dummy. How many of us could go to a foreign country, learn 5 languages, establish a successful dental practice, a successful real estate business AND pass the California state bar- one of the hardest in the U.S. to pass?
She may be a ‘mail order’ attorney and not a Harvard lawyer, but she IS an attorney with all the rights and privilages of a Harvard lawyer nevertheless!
The point is; she has the passion, the zeal, the courage of her convictions and the love of America and its freedoms (unlike many of our ‘great’ attorneys and ‘patriots’ who criticize her) that will not let her give up!

That's true today as well, and it's true in every state. Not every laboring woman makes it to the hospital on time. And there are some crazy enough not to want to deliver in the hospital.
Would you deny US citizenship to a child just because he wasn't born in a hospital?

It is true. Were there individuals that were able to register their child's birth at the DoH, - even though the child was born outside of the islands. That was the proverbial loophole. They would simply *claim* that there had not been either a midwife or a doctor present at the time of the birth.
Would you deny US citizenship to a child just because he wasn't born in a hospital?
During the Presidential race, if it had been discovered that he had *not* been born at Kapi'olani Medical Center, that, in and of itself, would have devastated his campaign. He no longer would have been given the benefit of the doubt. There would have been all sorts demands for a thorough investigation surrounding the actual circumstances of his birth. Then they would have really started talking about the loopholes in the system.
What would he say to the public...? Gosh, I really had no idea that I had not been born at KMC...??
The only reason, for a Presidential candidate to perpetuate a lie that egregious, is to cover up even more malfeasance that he cannot afford to let the public know about.

Again, over the years, there were residents who wound up giving birth to infants outside of the islands, but, they would still want to have birth registered in the state where they resided.
So, they they would simply tell the DoH that the birth occurred in-state, but there wasn't a physician (or midwife) present. And there were procedures that allowed for that. That's how the loophole worked. Simple enough.
The major problem/dilemma for Obama is that he has painted himself into a corner. He has been stating for years that he actually was born at Kapiolani Medical Center. End of story.
But, if on the long form certificate, if there is no mention of KMC ( or any other hospital ), because the parent had stipulated that there was no physician present at the birth ( and that it took place at a different location ), -then Barry's got an awful lot of explaining to do.
And he wouldn't be able to claim that he "didn't know".
That is simply not true. And no, your repeating it over and over again doesn't make it true.
It is true.
You cannot make a blanket statement and try to claim, that, over the years, such a thing never happened. That's simply ridiculous. There were loopholes in the system. And like any set of loopholes, in any system, people attempted to exploit them.
I'm not saying that all parents in the that kind situation attempted to exploit them. I'm just saying that over the course of time, that there were some that did make such an attempt.

I also emailed Factcheck.org about their claim that the initial “public option” (Pelosi’s version) of Obama’s health care plan was NOT taxpayer-funded. They explained to me it would not be taxpayer-funded, that the government would only serve in an administrative capacity. I wrote back to ask them who would fund the subsidies contained in the plan, but I never heard back from them. (surprise!)
Carole Fader began her “factcheck” articles late last year. Every single article has been biased in the extreme. Case in point - her article on Pelosi’s use of military aircraft: A reader asks “Is it true that Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi insists on a “big fat, 200-seat jet” to take her and her family back and forth to California at an annual cost to taxpayers of $5,760.00?” Of course, the factual answer would be simply, “No, she did request a jet capable of a non-stop flight, but not a ‘big-fat, 200-seat jet.’ “ But instead, Fader jumped at the opportunity to headline her article with “”FACT: DENNIS HASTERT USED MILITARY AIRCRAFT MORE THAN NANCY PELOSI.” (Even though the supporting evidence referenced in the article itself proves the exact opposite to be true. http://www.judicialwatch.org/documents/2009/Pelosi_Hastert_numbers.pdf
When I emailed her about it, her response was “Unfortunately, the headline writer used it as a deck head. It clearly was not the point or the focus of the piece and should not have been used as such. I cringed myself when I saw that that was pulled out, making it appear that it was a main element of the story.” In other words - an anonymous “headline writer” was responsible. (Not me!) (CYA)
Prior to this, she printed 2 stories about Obamas genius in pulling out of the European missile deterrent program, designed to protect against Iranian nukes. These were on page 3. In the same edition, there was another article: “Iran has nuclear ability, U.N. says” which was buried on page 13. When emailed about it, she replied “I don’t know why the stories were separated, first of all. They should have been run together. And the U.N. report should have had a higher profile.” (Ya think?) Further, she claimed that the “placement happened at night after she went home.” (Not me!) (CYA) Another anonymous scapegoat.
What was even more disconcerting, her reply to me also included the statement: “In fact, Obama came out with a plan that is supposed to be a better guarantee of protection against missiles from Iran.” I found this comical, since my email mentioned nothing about the merits of the stories, just the placement of them. But she obviously felt a great need to defend Obama.
And then we have today’s “Fact-Check” with the headline, “Student name was Obama; he wasn’t on a Fulbright.” Not surprising at all. It’s an established pattern. I personally don’t believe she addresses any questions sent in by actual readers. She simply peruses factcheck.org’s website to find articles that defend her hero Obama, and prints them under the guise of “readers’ questions.”
I’ve given up emailing the Times Union on such “innocent” mistakes. But I do wonder when they’ll run out of anonymous scapegoats. LOL!
