Concealed firearms have their legal place in society, but hidden guns hardly seem appropriate on university campuses.
We think it's more than reasonable for the board that oversees Colorado State University to ask that administrators enact a ban on guns to individuals who own concealed-carry permits. The CSU Board of Governors voted 9-0 last week to implement a ban on campuses in Fort Collins and Pueblo, and now college presidents must craft the policy.
When enacted next year, CSU will join a long list of other campuses with similar bans. In fact, nearly every public college and university bans student possession of concealed weapons on campus through state laws, university regulation or both, according to the American Association of State Colleges and Universities.
Interestingly enough, the loudest voice for keeping CSU's policy came from the student senate in Fort Collins, which voted overwhelming to keep the policy that's been in place since 2003. Students have argued that criminals don't stop at campus borders, and that concealed-carry permits make the campus safer

Notice that the ban on guns only appears to apply to individuals who own concealed carry permits. Typical of liberal idiot group think to favor a ban that by its very nature will only impact your most reliable and law-abiding citizens, but will have no deterrent effect on those who would do harm to society.
Ooooo, HIDDEN guns. 'Cause they're scarier and more deadly than concealed guns & this article is all about fear.
Just wondering - which provides more deterrent, not knowing who is carrying (CCW), or open carry? Interesting argument.
“but hidden guns hardly seem appropriate on university campuses.”
The important question is “why?” Why would they be inappropriate? Because the writer has some idyllic vision of universities as institutes of peaceful higher learning? Because violent crime *never* happens in the university setting?
Why is a university any more inappropriate than a mall, or church, or walking down the street - all places where violent crime has occurred and will occur again?
The author is deluded. Probably believes in unicorns, too.
What better way to garantee that a murderer can kill innocents, than to demand that all the law-abiding citizens walk around unarmed?
This may come as a shock to the author, but people intent on killing as many innocents as possible, want to know that their victims will not be able to shoot back. They do not care that the act of murder is illegal, so what makes the author think that outlawing the guns on campus will disuade the murderer from killing on campus?
I’d rather take my chances with 1% of the student population being armed and able to take out a murderer, than a 0% chance.
Meanwhile, the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators contends: “There is no credible statistical evidence demonstrating that laws allowing the carrying of concealed firearms reduce crime.”
Lying sacks of $hit. Typical administrators toeing the scum line.
OK, so allow open carry.
In fact, nearly every public college and university bans student possession of concealed weapons on campus
Like Virginia Tech.
Liberals value their pie-in-sky delusions over human life.
Liberals project themselves on others.
I know a number of liberals who claim that the slightest argument will end up with a gun fight.
They are projecting how THEY would react. Don’t think like I do, well then I’m just going to shoot you!
A gun de-escalates violence 99% of the time. In these days, if I were going to college again, I’d have a small revolver in my backback, well concealed but I’d have it, damn these people trying to disarm me.
From the article: “Plus, shooting-spree killers are extremely rare...”
That’s an interesting admission.
They use it to argue against concealed carry on campus but that it’s extremely rare undermines it as a justification for gun control. At least among thinking people.
There are only three groups of people on CSU’s or any campus:
1. those who are legally armed;
2. those who are unarmed;
3. those who are illegally armed.
When this ban goes into effect who will be left armed?
Not group 1, the law-abiding.
Not group 2 who choose to be unarmed in any case.
Only group 3, the criminals will retain their weapons.
So how are you now safer?
Each one of these articles only reinforces my belief that liberals are mentally deficient and should not be allowed to breed or vote.
Deny federal education funding to all institutions that deny the civil right recognized by the Second Amendment. That'll learn them.
So this is a call for open carry? Excellent.
