That's the attitude I took when Obama was elected. No more pretending that skin color doesn't matter. No more soft-pedaling my opinions out of fear of being called a racist. Now I say exactly what I think on the subject of black-white relations in America.
And there are consequences. I have several friends who will no longer speak with me. It hurts. The pain is real. I'll eventually be banned from FR, I suspect. Someday I'll probably be a convicted "hate criminal" as well. But I'm done denying reality. Speaking the truth is never a sin, and it's time for the truth about race relations in America to be spoken.
I have a young son. We are raising him to be a Catholic first, a Texan second, and a person of European ancestry third. I would never dream of teaching him to hate anyone. Nor would his mother and I ever preach that white supremacy stuff to him. But I damned sure am going to tell him the truth about how whites and blacks get along in the real world before I send him out into that real world. He is going to learn the easy way what I had to learn the hard way: that outside of Christianity we can't all just get along.
And if that makes me a "racist", then I'm prepared to live with that.

New York city had a huge gang violence problem until the PD there (backed by the mayor and DA) severely reduced the crime element using very much the same tactics....
NY City's gang problem got so bad that it temporarily suspended the political correctness among the citizens and the city government. That's why it got done. Everyone concerned was in agreement.
Los Angeles also broke the back of urban gangs back in the 50's and 60's. The city government was ruthless about it, and directed the LAPD to stomp it out with the correct amount of force.
The problem didn't rear its head again until the early 70's, when the Crips and the Bloods were born in Compton (a suburb of LA). By the time the city got around to trying to suppress it, gang membership had grown to gargantuan proportions, and couldn't have been put down without a war.
Times had changed, as well. Political correctness had already infected the city government, and the will to stamp out the gang scourge just wasn't there. Besides, it was confined to the ghettos and barrios, so it was allowed to fester and grow even larger.
In time, these gangs grew to infect communities across the country, and thousands of other urban gangs sprang up wherever the contagion of aberration reached. It's now an problem of epidemic proportions that spans the breadth of the nation.
What to do? Do what works, of course, but that will take a tremendous amount of political will.

What's even worse than that sort of murder is the senseless drive-by shootings. These used to be gang-on-gang, but in time, the gangsters began shooting innocent citizens as a way of initiating new members, and even for the sheer hell of it.
My sister lost her future brother in law to a drive-by shooting when she was in high school. He wasn't even involved with gangs. Just standing in the wrong place at the wrong time. A convenient target.
It's much easier to let a "chump" do all the work......then you can take it away from him ...with just one hit in a period of a few minutes...
The kind of real leadership this country needs is rising out of the turmoil as we speak. I've said it before, and I really believe it... we've got some real pain to come, but beyond that, sunrise is coming.

If I had the bully pulpit like Obama has, I'd sure as hell point out to as wide an audience as I could that 1)only a bunch of pansies would use the kind of chicken-shit tactics gangs use, and 2)their members must be really stupid to not realize that they are as responsible as any "oppressor" might be for causing grief and suffering for their own people!
Gangs are just a bunch of cowards who trample on the rights of anyone they choose--and then run and hide behind the apron strings of "CIVIL RIGHTS".
Black racist hate crimes have exploded since the Obama became President.....hhmmm.
Hell, my incident happened back during the Nixon administration. I guess it was just one of what Shakespeare called "the thousand pricks the flesh is heir to." Times were pretty tumultuous back then, and for a while after it seemed like things would improve. Now...well, I admire (and perhaps even envy) you for your faith in a better future. Didn’t blacks used to have their own section of town? I think it was called SEGREGATION and they didn’t like it! Sounds like they are wanting it now!
The utter contempt for life is what really is disgusting, and just as with terrorism, the only "measures" that will get any attention or "respect" from these bullies is what every coward fears--someone with something bigger and stronger than them!
Blackwater’s AA12 would be a nice weapon for crowd control.
