(Liberal Quinnipiac) Poll: Only 38 percent support health care bill (All time low Alert)
Politico ^ | December 9, 2009 | Glenn Thrush

Posted on 12/09/2009 8:21:26 AM PST by Zakeet

The second leg of Quinnipiac's big national poll dropped this morning -- and it shows a serious erosion of support for Congressional health reform efforts and the president's performance on the issue -- along with an all-time low 46 percent approval rating for the POTUS.

Most ominously for Dems: Nearly two-thirds of registered voters polled said extending coverage to 30 million-plus people will result in a decline in the quality of their own health care. That gives plenty of room to the GOP to personalize attacks on the plan, Obama and Congress.

The lowlights for Dems:

--O approval/disapproval: 46/44 percent.

--Voters disapprove 52 – 38 percent of the health care reform proposal under consideration in Congress, and they disapprove 56 – 38 percent of President Obama’s handling of health care, down from 53 – 41 percent in a November 19 survey.

--American voters say 63 – 30 percent that extending health insurance to all will raise their cost of health care, although they are split 47 – 46 percent on whether they are willing to pay more to make sure everyone is covered.

--Voters split 48 – 46 percent on whether they think covering everyone will decrease the quality of their own care, but by 71 – 21 percent they do not think universal coverage is worth lower quality of care.

“It’s a good thing for those pushing the health care overhaul in Congress that the American people don’t get a vote. At this time, supporters are down 14 percentage points,” said Peter Brown, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute.

I was recently standing in a long holiday line at the post office. A senior gentleman behind me suddenly stated loudly, “Get used to it folks. This is what your healthcare is going to be like soon.” The line erupted into discussions, most of which were led by angry and frustrated senior citizens. They are mad as can be.

If our “leaders” were listening to the people, they’d be very worried about supporting this fiasco. The problem is, they’re not listening. The crazy Dems want it to cement their power over the people. The Republicans seem to be putting up a weak defense— perhaps they see its passage as an easy way to ride the tide of discontent to power in the next election.

We, the people, have to do something. Tea parties aren’t enough, apparently.

I saw the same thing in Cancun last week, people were reading Sarah’s book by the pool, young and old, and plenty of discussion going on. Most of the people I spoke with were from California and have had enough, I thought that quite interesting, and good news! A young couple from Philly were really up in arms, glad to see the young, under 30 crowd, waking up.

Doesn’t matter what we want, they know they know better.

Doesn’t matter that their AGW data is bogus, they have an agenda, and that agenda includes theft of your private property and taking your freedom.

Indeed. If they won’t listen, something else will have to be done to get their attention.

Only 38% support this, yet they are hell bent on shoving it through. There has to be at least a couple of statesmen left in the rat party who will stand up to obama. What are they all afraid of?

I walked past the Campus Bookstore of a liberal university on Saturday, and was stunned to see their Best Sellers window display just overflowing with copies of Sarah Palin Going Rogue (the REAL one, not the bitter lib knock-off).
Even there the truth will eventually win out, it seems.

It won’t matter if support for this mess gets down to the single digits IT IS GOING TO PASS.

Jug Ears, Dingy Harry, Botox Nancy and all the rest can taste victory and don’t care if it costs them seats next year. They will be the ones that FINALLY took control of the country and IF passed these laws will never be removed.

Keep your powder dry................

It could poll in at zero percent and they'd still be pushing for it. For our own good of course. Reminds me of these quotes

"Democracy is the theory that the common people know what they want, and deserve to get it good and hard." - H. L. Mencken

“Of all tyrannies a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victim may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron’s cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated, but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.” - C.S. Lewis

Hard times are going to get even harder...

And when can you remember the last time that in public someone would make comments like that around a bunch of strangers? The last time I can think of stuff like that said was during Watergate. We all know how that turned out.

Something is horribly wrong with this statement.

It’s true but our representatives are supposed to be representing the American people not themselves.

I've wanted to do this for a long time, but have never had the guts to do it.
