Syrian VP: Israel Won't Attack Iran Without US Support
Ynet News ^ | December 10, 2009 | Roee Nahmias

Syrian Vice President Farouk al-Shara estimated that Israel would not be able to attack Iran without the support of the United States.

Speaking to heads of the ruling Ba'ath Party, al-Shara claimed Thursday that US President Barack Obama has tried to "restrain" Israel in order to prevent a strike on Iran's nuclear facilities.

"The Israelis, despite their (vast arsenal), were unable to force the Palestinian people in Gaza to surrender and wave the white flag, he said.

“Syrian VP: Israel Won’t Attack Iran Without US Support”

I wouldn’t bet too many lives on that.

If only our leaders DID have the balls to support Israel! Instead we have a boot licking Neville Chamerlain in the White House, eager to bow down to Arab dictators.

When I'm in Israel and see posters that say "Go ahead America, Israel has your back!" I feel proud of our two countries. But when I listen to Obama speak I'm ashamed for us that we have such an angry, anti-Israeli, spoiled manchild as our president.

The Israeli govt and actions seem split on the issue of reducing Iran and its nukes. They seem to dismisss ZERO on most things, but appear to back off on attacking the enemy.

The idea that Israel would attack Iran is ludicrous. Israel cannot even get her own house in order, and I mean Gaza and the West Bank.
Lie down with dogs, wake up with fleas — and flea bites all over. That, Israel is doing. No wonder the enemies don’t respect her. Clean up Gaza instead of retreating, and maybe people won’t laugh out loud about a pre-emptive strike on Iran.
For now I will leave Netanyahu out of the assessment, because he’s obviously the best of the lot. But for the rest of them, Israel is defeating itself in a slow, agonized drip-by-drip surrender.
These are God’s chosen people. They do not belong on the defensive. Their leadership has sold them into something worse than slavery, and their abject posture toward the world will gain them what abject postures always gain. Another slaughter.
Rant over. Nothing further.

Israel is assessing the likely response to their attack on Iran, and how they need to prepare for it. Iran’s most likely response will be through Hamas and Hezbollah with massive missle launches and suicide bombers. Iran itself will use the threat of nuclear attack against Israel’s neighboring allies in an effort to freeze out any support for, and isolate, Israel.

Israel cannot entirely and irretrievably destroy Iran’s ability to fight, nor even their nuclear capability. Iran has the luxury of planning a slow, calculated, lethal proxy war against Israel as a response to attack. But Israel cannot win a slow-bleed conflict like that and will ultimately have to respond massively with their full nuclear capability against Iran and it’s proxies. This will end in a global conflict.

Do the Syrians consider a bow support enough for Israel to commence with action.? my guess is that's all the support TOTUS is going to give anyone nowadays...

The Israelis don’t give a damn about what Obama says or wants. They will take care of their own problems when the time arrives.

Why would they depend on a muslim for help. Obama has done everything except declare the national religion of the US as muslim.

To entirely defeat and destroy Iran’s nuclear program with CONVENTIONAL forces alone, I think the US woud have to do it. If Israel attacks, it would either have to use nukes, or be satisfied with just doing severe damage to the program, but without a real knock-out punch. And of course, Iran would also launch SOME sort of counter-attack.

Any attack on Iran will drive the price of gas through the roof

If Israel attacks Iran who is going to resupply all the munitions etc used up in the attack

Israel is between a rock and a hard place

She is a dependent nation that no one in the world gives a damn about

That is the fact of life

I see no solution other than internal revolt in Iran

I think that any pronouncement from any part of the Syrian government is pretty much worthless, and certainly any pronouncement that has to do with anything external to Syria is completely without worth.

There may be another long shot

The Saudis don’t want a nuclear Iran—if the Saudi $$$$$ influence can convince the USA to support an Israel attack

Says WHO?

The Lyin’ King has succeeded in alienating Israel so much in the last 11 months that they no longer need or want our help or permission for anything.
