The real inconvenient truth: The whole world needs to adopt China's one-child policy
Financial Post, Canada ^ | 12/08/09 | Diane Francis

The "inconvenient truth" overhanging the UN's Copenhagen conference is not that the climate is warming or cooling, but that humans are overpopulating the world.

A planetary law, such as China's one-child policy, is the only way to reverse the disastrous global birthrate currently, which is one million births every four days.

The world's other species, vegetation, resources, oceans, arable land, water supplies and atmosphere are being destroyed and pushed out of existence as a result of humanity's soaring reproduction rate.

Ironically, China, despite its dirty coal plants, is the world's leader in terms of fashioning policy to combat environmental degradation, thanks to its one-child-only edict.

Why do we constantly read articles telling us that the infant morality rate is greater in the US than other countries and we need to fix it?

The difference between our "infant mortality" rate and the rest of the world is a matter of definition. We count every death that occurs. The rest of the world sweeps the issue under the rug by counting only those deaths that occurs after the first week (or more) of life. Any deaths during the first week are considered "still births" and are not included in the total. Simply an accounting trick but they have been doing it for years.

GtG

These people are out of there minds!

It is scary times we are living in. Environmentalism is the new communism. It is going to be used to control every aspect of human life. Freedom will be a thing of the past if these nutjobs get their way.

The explosive growth of population in third world countries is due to our well intended efforts to lower the death rate. People living a subsistence existence of necessity have many children in order to guarantee that some will survive to the next generation. When health care is improved to the point of keeping most of the births alive, the population starts an exponential growth, that is it doubles every 'X' years (where X is either a constant or perhaps even decreasing in value).

There are no systems in nature that display "exponential growth" for long. All such are limited either by intent (the Chinese one baby solution) or nature steps in with plague or famine to stop the runaway growth. Those are the choices, take your pick.

Well, there is one other solution and that would come about by lifting the entire third world subsistence population to a level where they curtail their birth rate and bring it into balance with their death rate. Yeah, like that's gona happen...

Regards,
GtG

PS It's not nice to fool with "Mother Nature"!

China emits about 5 trillion tons of CO2 with a GDP of about $2.2 trillion.

The U.S. emits about 6 trillion tons of CO2 with a GDP of about $11.7 trillion.

Who does the better job of conserving?

All this is moot however. The greenhouse effect of manmade CO2 is about 0.117% of the total greenhouse effect. (Mostly it’s natural water vapor).

...why are you not taking the most proactive solution to heart and setting the example by offing yourselves before you procreate?

Lighten up on them...most of 'em are involved in lifestyles that do not lead to procreation anyway. Wait 50 years, problem solved.

(Well, I can wish it were that easy, can't I?)

Certainly most of Asia, Africa, the Middle East, and Latin America need to adopt the policy—they’re breeding themselves into serfdom. The western world and Japan actually need to up their birth rates to remain stable. The first step should be to freeze immigration and force populations to live with the consequences (good or ill) of their respective birth rates.

Lighten up on them

These folks have been at the forefront of pushing anti-human, anti-family agendas for decades. They impact every one of us, every day, directly or indirectly with the legislation they've pushed to implement. Why should I wait 50 years? They're actively working to reduce human populations as we speak, in 50 years, what's to say they won't have succeeded?

I will not lighten up on them.

just watch what happens in Japan over the next decade or so, and you’ll see what happens to a country that can’t be bothered to have children.

Watch the movie "Ideocracy". Dismiss the humor in the movie and reflect on it's underlying premise. We're not far off. It's just around the corner at Mega Mart, alongside Starbucks with full release.

Ideocracy has almost become an American society documentary film. Just peel back our game face a little bit.

The Moslems are going to be marrying their first-cousins. Do that 10 to 15 generations and you have some problems ~ namely a "tribal look" where everybody in a tribe resembles everybody else.

It was recently reported that Moslem immigrants in Sweden were showing a dramatic drop in their birth-rate ~ below replacement in fact.

Is it the water? Is it the latitude? Is it the cold?

Whatever it is Malmo may well be one step beyond the end of the road for those guys.

They are going to have to start cloning people or their culture is going to be gone in 100 years. Maybe they can replace their population with sentient robots????

Yeah and that adds to the odd that they will carry a number of genetic disorders, causing a further strain on their socialist health care systems...

"The same observation has been made of the 1.1-child-per-woman countries in Europe."

Point taken, but the Europeans are not mandated to a plan,so, some will have extended families. Also, as we all know (I hope), the immigrants are reproducing, at about 3 times the rate of the natives. And I don't think that some simpering leftist is going to convince the Muzzies to not reproduce, as that is their main stategy to over-whelm us.

I had no idea. My son is doing a report on Pandas and they are difficult to breed outside of China (alot are stillborn). I wonder if that kind of regional reproductive issue happens in humans too? Very interesting. Thanks for the post.
