You go camping in the freezing weather after midnight?
I wonder how ole Drew Peterson (let alone Scott) is doin’ in jail this holiday season?
that is what I said too. Hope we are wrong.
Crud, I’ve done that as a Boy Scout. It’s called “Winter Camp.”
It’s done when it is -20 degrees and you take polar sleeping bags. We tended to hole up in an unheated cabin, but some do it in tents.
It lasts a weekend, usually. You are so happy when you are back in a warm place, but you learn to really appreciate how to care for yourself and others under extreme conditions.
Do you mean Mike Petersen who murdered his wife - Durham, NC?
(so many wife murdering scum)
He got a life sentence for his murder of his Durham wife.
News some time ago was that investigators were trying to come up with enough evidence to charge him with murder of his previous wife who also “fell” down some stairs and died.
His Step daughters got a huge monetary award in a wrongful death lawsuit.
But Petersen sits in jail and writes.....
I am sure he will be like a previous wife (and child) murderer from NC - Jeffrey MacDonald - who is STILL claiming innocence but has been denied parole over and over and over again - thank GOD!
I hope we’re wrong too - but don’t think so.
So very very sad for the lady’s parents and children and other loved ones.
Winter camping is popular in large areas of the country. I personally have been on campouts at 35 below zero. With a 30 knot wind.
I haven’t been camping in decades.
You would do this with little children? ( think the ages are something like 4 and 7) - and you go at midnight?
I think those are some of the details that make his story hard to buy.
Am sure it is a great adventure.
But this dad claimed he took his small children - and went at midnight - on this camping trip.
Does not compute, IMHO.
Well, it started out earlier but time does fly....
Famous case in the Outback a few years back, woman lost her baby to dingos.
Police said the mother killed the baby - turns out the dingos did take the child, the mom didn;t “seem upset enuf” at loss of her child.
I’ll wait till the wife or hew body shows up.
I know nothing about the case. However, I have been winter camping, but not with little kids. I’m sure lots of folks do. But, it would be a fairly limited number of folks and camping, the outdoors would be a common occurence. Talk to the guy’s neighbors, look at his gear, etc. If he’s got a K-Mart tent and cotton sleeping bags and a $5 insta-grill from the grocery store - he probably isn’t in to winter camping.
We have been know to start long road-trips at 10 pm or so when the kids were real little. Pack-up, put the kid’s in bed, take an hour nap, wake up and drive in shifts to get there by morning with the kids sleeping the entire way. If his campsite was only 1 or 2 hours away though - its a real pain and poor planning pitching your tent at 2 a.m. with a couple of kids waiting in the car. And it’s cold. (I did that ONCE!)
Ok - can understand.
Ditto!
I live in Salt Lake City, Utah not far from the suspect.
The weather here has been arctic for the last ten days.
No rational person goes camping in this type of weather, especially with small children.
Clearly, the guy murdered his wife and dumped the body somewhere out there in the vast Utah badlands. He likely figures that without a body the cops have no case.
It takes all kinds, I guess.
Right - if he’s lying - it will be obvious soon. I think he is lying.
I'm not so sure her body would never be found. After midnight, in freezing weather, with frozen ground I don't think he could have dug a very deep grave if he didn't just cover her up with snow somewhere.
>>ages 2 and 4<<
From the article.
A TWO YEAR OLD? No way.
People getting crazy.......

“its easy to tell he killed her.”
I have no Idea myself, but from what you say we could save a lot of taxpayer dollars just to contracting you to give us the answer...
