Love Salvation Army. OUr new Envoy is speaking at our Republican Women Christmas luncheon tomorrow. Nice guy! Republican, but he’s not supposed to talk about it! LOL!
...so Gay groups are planning on “getting” the Salvation Army by putting the screws to the poor people the Salvation Army helps?
Am I reading that right?
Anyone else smell a rat?
SS numbers not needed for Salvation Army gifts

HOUSTON (AP) Families signing up their children for The Salvation Army’s Angel Tree program in the Houston area will no longer have to give a Social Security number.
Some had seen the practice as a way to check immigration status, but the charity said it was a way to cut down on fraud.
The Christian charity says the number could be a child or parent’s and was enough to register the entire family.
It was used to check if families were going to various Salvation Army centers and registering at each one, said spokesman Juan Alanis. Social Security numbers were never used to verify legal status, the Salvation Army said Thursday.
The charity accepts consular identification cards, school records and birth certificates as forms of ID, Alanis said.

Salvation Army gets my vote here!
Another thing — Do not shop at Target for Christmas — and tell them why in January.
They (Target) will not allow the Salvation Army Bell Ringers outside their stores. I’m proud to say I have never stepped a foot inside a Target store.
Thanks for the link. Just made a donation.
Gee, I wish I’d seen this BEFORE I made my charity decisions for the CFC.
Well, I’ll just have to make a point of dropping some money into the pot.
I saw a TV show a few years ago about an apartment building the Salvation Army maintains in Paris. They specialize in taking young women—many of them victims of abuse by parents or boyfriends, some of whom had turned to prostitution—and giving them a place to stay and a helping hand to eventually gain independence. The Salvation Army doesn’t just do its work in the US.
Two silver eagles for me.
Salvation Army BTTT. I donate to every one of their pots I pass.
I’m not sure what the article was trying to say. Can anyone help? It was VERY unclear. Thanks.
I now plan to double my not-so-modest yearly Christmas contribution to the Salvation Army.

Please don’t take this as a personal attack.
Do you really need a reminder to donate to the one and only Charity you support?
Did I read that wrong or did it just come out poorly worded?
“What is The Salvation Army?
The Salvation Army is an integral part of the Christian Church, although distinctive in government and practice. The Armys doctrine follows the mainstream of Christian belief and its articles of faith emphasise Gods saving purposes. Its objects are the advancement of the Christian religion of education, the relief of poverty, and other charitable objects beneficial to society or the community of mankind as a whole.*”
“The movement, founded in 1865 by William Booth, has spread from London, England, to many parts of the world.”

I guess this was my way to say that I appreciate the Salvation Army and I must make sure to donate this year. Also I hoped that others might contribute as well if I mentioned it. That’s pretty easy to understand and whether I need a reminder or not is none of your business. The statement stands just as it is.
I can’t imagine why you would you would even care how I remember how to give to charities.
Don’t bother to reply to me...

My mother said the same thing... my grandfather always got free coffee and donuts from the Salvation Army during the time he served in WWI.
I did not understand your comment and was trying to better understand your message.
I am sorry I gave offense and I tried to be clear it wasn’t my intent.
God Bless and Merry Christmas.
