It's sort of like saying, "As governor, I raised state income taxes, but the thought of raising federal income taxes -- that's an outrage!"

Romney’s toast. Bob Dole has a better chance of winning the nomination than Romney does.

Romney’s the big loser anytime Sarah appears on tv, on radio, in the press, makes a public appearance, gives a speech, need I go on? Romney should give up any plans he has for the 2012 nomination and save some of his money for his children’s inheritance, because if he uses his own money again it will just be thrown to the wind.

Williard is about the most two-faced politican I’ve ever seen or read about. So, big loser, yes, just about in everything he’s done in the last three or four years or so.

"So now, if Obamacare passes, Romney will be left telling angry primary voters that the only real difference between the two plans is that he implemented his policies at the state level, while Obama did it through the federal government. Sure, it's clearly worse if the federal government is implementing bad policies, but it's hard to see how such an argument would pass muster with anybody but those who are already ardent Romney supporters."

Well, I have to say this is totally wrong. While I don't like or support Massacheussett's health care system, and think it was a bad decision on Romney's part, to say that there's no difference between policy made on the federal level and policy made on the state level, even if they're substantially similar, is to completely undermine the notion of federalism - one of the fundamental conceptual and functional components of the republic and a key tenet of conservatism.

On Twitter, Politico’s Ben Smith asks, “At this point, how is current proposal substantially different from Romneycare?”

The answer is, it ain’t.

Ce la Vie Monsieur Romney. President Palin it is then, full speed ahead!

Does anyone besides the uber-liberal and biased lamestream media like this guy? He is a slick talking leftist from a marxist state and totally disgusts me. I will work very hard to defeat him in the primaries and if by some miracle he gets the nod I will work even harder to defeat him in the general.

The 2012 race will be all about REPEAL of Obamacare.
Hence Romney will not be a part of it (unless he chooses to become Lou Dobbs’ running mate on the neo-Perotist Bullmoose ticket...)

I like Romney personnaly. He seems like a nice guy. However, when someone is against abortion, then runs for office in Mass and is for abortion, then runs for President and is now against abortion, I have to question him.

I don’t mind one flip flop on abortion going either way. But when you flip, then flop and then flip back again. Well, that’s too much for me and smacks of politics. Which means (to me) he’s an empty suit politically and can’t be trusted when elected.

Now this is a good Romney thread. If this is enacted we are obligated to campaign in 2010 and 2012 against RomneyCare, if not directly certainly by suggestion.

I'm a believer in RINO relativism. I was delighted when Romney was elected governor of Massachusetts -- he's the closest thing to a conservative we'll ever see in that state. Similarly, I was delighted when Rudy was elected mayor of NYC, and I'd love to see him run for governor of NY, or for the Senate from that state.

I believe that RINOs have their place -- in liberal states where a RINO is the best you're likely to get. Yes, I believe that half a loaf is better than none.

BUT -- Romney or Rudy on the national stage? NO! A thousand times no!
