Britain's relations with Israel have been plunged into crisis after the Jewish state angrily denounced an attempt in London to arrest its former foreign minister, Tzipi Livni.
The Israeli foreign ministry summoned Tom Phillips, the British ambassador to Tel Aviv, to protest at her treatment and give warning that diplomatic ties had been badly damaged.

That's part of the daily fare here, it seems, but there are also some/many sane posters.
Half the products on that site are shawls, scarves, and clothing with the Palestinian flag on it. And olive wood products, because olive trees happen to grow all over the PA & Israel—I actually have a cross made out of olive wood from Bethlehem. Fine. So they can make a T-shirt and print their flag on it. The Jews have produced more doctors and Nobel laureates than pretty much anyone else. Got some catching up to do there, Palis.

This is exactly what we face if we join the world court.
None of our military—of any rank, down to private—will be able to visit a lot of European countries; because a warrant issued in any ONE of them (like Spain or England) can be enforced in every other country of the EU.
Sooner or later they would seize an American serviceman and charge him.
Likewise, our retired diplomats and politicians would face the same.
The idea of “national sovereignty”—that each nation protects its citizens—has pretty much gone out the window.
(Where is Teddy Roosevelt when we really need him?)
Not good enough. As the article notes, this has happened before, has not been corrected, and therefore likely will happen again:
But according to Israeli officials, the government has repeatedly failed to live up to commitments made by both Tony Blair and Gordon Brown to curb the power of the courts either through legislation or regulation. In recent years, activists have increasingly used British courts to pursue visiting Israeli officials they claim carried out war crimes in the Palestinian territories and in Lebanon.
In 2005, Doron Almog, a retired Israeli general, returned to Israel without leaving his plane after hearing an arrest warrant had been issued in his name. This September a court rejected a bid to seek an arrest warrant for Ehud Barak, the Israeli foreign minister, who had been invited to attend the Labour party conference.
Not good enough, also, as it fits an increasingly disturbing pattern of antisemitism (or obviously antisemitism driven supposed antiIsraelism) by the British Government and/or high government officials. The article gives one bizarrely gratuitous example:
The latest row comes just days after Israel protested about a government advisory to UK supermarkets suggesting that they differentiate between West Bank imports according to whether they were produced by Jewish settlers or by Palestinians.
Not good enough, finally, as the British government should also apologize to the citizens of every country and region beset by thugs, despots and criminals whose (non-Jewish) perpetrators regularly visit Britain unmolested (when not feted).
“My God if this is really true, when are the Jews in the U.S. going to wake up!”
LOL they voted for Hussein
Yes, it surprised the heck out of me, especially coming out of the mouths of young people.
I can recall when a seemingly very nice hotelier in Bologna started going on about how "the Americans were superior to Jews because we don't continue crying about 9/11 like Jews do about the Holocaust". Huh? I was stunned. I must admit that I pretty much lost all respect for her and anything that she had to say after that.
My father was European-born Christian, but he had not a drop of antisemitism in him so I just don't understand it. But then again, I've never understood racism, period.
Perhaps about the same time most Americans do -- which could be "never", or "too late".
A really interesting video interview with a Moslem Turkish would-be-terrorist who changed his ways and was now visiting Israel. Israeli TV interviewed him and he had some relevant things to say -- not only to Jews and Israel -- but to all of us re militant Islam.
Since Ireland signed the Eurotopia/Lisbon Treaty, it is in full effect.
Warrants issued in one country are valid in all. Extradition is mandatory.

National warrants. The warrants have to be filed with Intorpol, which may only be done with the national governments. But, in this case, it appears that a local constabulary/magistrate issued the warrant.
This has already happened in Italy with respect to Rumsfeld and I believe Bush as well. A runaway Italian prosecutor has convened a grand jury and obtained arrest warrants for one or both. But, the Italian state government refuses to file the warrants with Interpol, FWIW.
Just more of the same old same old from the Euros. Thanks hp.
Interesting, thanks. I had no idea they actually produce anything at all.
If youd like to be on or off, please FR mail me.

Israel would be better off without the likes of appeasing leftist Livni.
There would be less attempts to do this if each judge that granted an arrest warrant had a late-night, heart-to-heart meeting with a MOSSAD team.
