Lieberman indicates support for health bill

WASHINGTON – Independent Connecticut Sen. Joe Lieberman says he expects to support the Democrats' health care legislation as long as any government-run insurance plan stays out of the bill.

Lieberman has been a question mark on the health care legislation for months. To win him over, Senate leaders said late Monday they were backing away from a Medicare expansion Lieberman opposed. They already had dropped a full-blown government insurance program.

Lieberman told reporters Tuesday that if the Medicare expansion and government insurance plan are gone, "I'm going to be in a position where I can say what I've wanted to say all along: that I'm ready to vote for health care reform."

The title of this thread is deception by the media.

There is no way the rats will cave on not being in full government control.

Unless everybody has a price....

And Liebermann has caved to the false messiah
They have played games all along so who knows?
But Obama has too much to lose to not get what he wants, he does not care what the American people want.

They'll take what they can now before the midterms, knowing this is just the camel's nose under the tent.

LIEberman couldn't be more disingenuous. The definition of government run health care is vague at best. He's been waiting for the bill to be repackaged so as not to appear as it is government run health care base on this vague definition so he can claim he isn't voting for government run health care. He's pulled this same method of operation throughout his political career in order to have people believe he supports them while still voting the socialist line.

I contacted his office several times over the last several months to pinpoint on how he defines government run health care but I could never get a straight answer.

All along Reid/Pelosi have said we got it...

Then nothing...

The liberal media seems to want this so bad that AP made it sound like Liebermann caved.

But did he? I am so tired of the lying and corruption.

The Senate version stills needs to be reconciled with the House version which does contain the public option. All the Senate needs to pass the reconciled bill is 51 vote.

Allowing this monstrosity to proceed to reconciliation does not bode well.

I just read between the lines of the article. I sincerely think the rats have had a plan all along to sneak in government run socialized medicine. They will just call it something else or put tricky Obama lawyer things in the bill that won’t LOOK like gov run health care but a forced smile on Pelosi’s face hair triggers it.

The more important point is that any federal version of health care is unconstitutional since Article 1 Section 8 does not specifically list health care as a power granted to Congress. This is the point people need to impress on their Congress critters!

Sen. Burris of Illinois has learned of the $500 million payoff to Sen Nelson, and is now posturing for his own payoff.

government-run insurance plan stays out of the bill....

The IRS will collect taxes to pay for it, federal prisons will house and [hopefully] feed us if we don't pay. Last I checked, the IRS and federal prisons were part of the government. No matter what is said, this bill is government-run. There is just too many shall-do-this and must-do-that in the bill, that its government calling the shots. The only way to not have government-run health is to take an axe to this bill and chop it into 300 million little molecular pieces. And then pour pure sulfuric acid over it. And even then, I'd watch for movement in the steaming pile just in case there were any signs of resurgence.

Are you certain? I think bills out of a conference committee normally still require 60 votes for cloture of debate. The 51 votes only applies to budget reconciliation legislation, which would be very unprecendented for a bill like this (although I would put nothing past the Dem leadership).

Even if your senators are voting NO, make sure they know that you don't want a reconciled bill either.

Current house and senate bills have CUTS for the VA in them as well as a nearly $5,000 NEW fees for Tri Care for Life the retired Military's insurance.

Google for their local offices since those are usually not that busy.

His voice mail in DC is FULL. But I got right through on his local line 1-860-549-8463, another poster tried the local office and got a full voice mail box. Wonder if they "fixed" their fax machines like they have their voice and email boxes?

Ask how he can vote to cut Medicare for seniors, VA benefits for Veterans and INCREASE fees for retired Military under Tri-Care for Life....pound on the three issues as effecting the ENTIRE country. Ask it of your OWN senators too.
