Israel Border Police officers shot at an American student's laptop as she entered Israel via Taba, Egypt, two weeks ago.
Lily Sussman, 21, wrote on her blog that border police subjected her to two hours of questioning and searches prior to shooting her Apple Macbook three times.
"They had pressed every sock and scarf with a security device, ripped open soap and had me strip extra layers. They asked me tons of questions? where are you going?" Sussman wrote, describing the experience.

They must’ve suspected vaporware.
They can replace the laptop but retrieving the data on it might be a little tough.
I am leaning towards that scenario as well.
That is exactly the same thing I wanted to do to my IMAC. Luckily Apple finally agreed to take it back.
I don’t get it—who wrote this article? Bar Ben Ari, Or Hishauga, or both?
We have debunked the “smoking voids your Apple warranty” issue weeks ago. Keep up! :)
She does not seemed too traumatized by the event on the interview. Apparently she has Jewish relatives but it is not observant or knowledgeable about Judaism.
From the size of the holes, it looks like they shot it with a .50. Most body armor isn’t much use against one of those.
I’m trying to visualize the shooting scenario.
Did they take it out back or just shoot it on a table?
Imagine the paperwork the shooter is in for.
“She added that she had also been carrying an Arabic phrasebook, stamps from Syria, Qatar and the UAE and a Palestinians in Palestine guidebook.”
This gal completely fit the profile of an American Jewish girl who is pro-Muslim. Her employment, her blog, her own stated words.
She also decided to enter Israel from Egypt, as an American.
I would bet dollars to donuts she had a bad attitude toward the Israeli border police, learned from her college time at an elite private university.
This is not hard kids — be polite and deferential in the presence of authority, especially when they have big guns and protect a tiny nation that is always endangered.
I would also wager that she would never act like such a prick when entering her current country of residence, Egypt.
Does that mean the cup holder is broken?
There has got to be more to the story than this!
Yeah..., you'll notice that no one is talking about the hard drive that they shot up... the one that was being brought into Israel from Egypt... :-)
On the other hand, they were very polite about it... and they will apparently be re-imbursing her for the loss of her laptop... in about a month.
She just won't be getting back the contents of the hard drive, that was being transported into Israel from Egypt... :-)
ding! ding! ding!
We have a winner...
Ah, another “rachel corrie”,
who has so much hatred for the Israelis for protecting themselves,
and so much sympathy for the Palis that seek genocide of the Jews.
Shoot any key to continue?
She sounds like a ditzy valley girl.
If she can tone it down a bit, she may have a future as a CNN Middle East correspondent.
I think it still might be saved. Well the HHD drive maybe.
If we ship a computer after it has been used by an employee we must g-disk it first. If it can’t G-disk it we must put six hole in the HDD. We were told after asking about other methods that we MUST use a drill. The cleaning must be done before leaving the building and the requested method would be distracting to customers.
