Liberal Revolt Pushes Obamacare to the Brink
Newsmax ^ | 12/16/09 | David A. Patten

The Obama administration's support for an individual insurance mandate without a public option is triggering what appears to be a full-fledged liberal revolt against the Senate's healthcare compromise, and for the first time raises the realistic prospect that reform could die amidst internecine Democratic bickering.

An ominous sign resonant of the contentious 2007 standoff over immigration reform: The conservative right and the hardcore left are both beginning to attack the current proposal, terming it a "monstrosity" and lambasting its cost.

"Insurance companies win," DailyKos founder Markos Moulitsas declared Tuesday. "Time to kill this monstrosity coming out of the Senate."

If healthcare reform ultimately crashes and burns – which most experts still consider unlikely -- it will ironically stem not from Republican opposition but rather Democrats' inability to stave off an insurgency within their own caucus.

"What I find to be amusing and curious about this whole situation," GOP insider Ken Blackwell tells Newsmax, "is that Obama's call for the end of partisanship probably should have started at home. The schizophrenic nature of the new Democratic Party has never been so evident as in this situation.

"It will be fascinating to see," he adds. "This is a make it or break it issue for the Obama administration. He's put all the chips on the table on this one."

As Blackwell suggests, for the first time in the year-long healthcare reform debate, Republican leaders see a realistic scenario whereby a goal-line stand stops healthcare reform on the one-yard line....

The Democrats are revolting. Well, to paraphrase Mel Brook's: "You said it, they stink on ice!"

Liberal morons on Twitter are retweeting Kos and Dean so yes the worm is turning.

They are “true believers”. Zero, on the other hand, just wants “something” passed that he can take credit for “Health Care Reform” in his first “State of the Union” address this January.

He really doesn’t give a damn about anyone but himself!

"Insurance companies win," DailyKos founder Markos Moulitsas declared Tuesday. "Time to kill this monstrosity coming out of the Senate."

Dems rule with fear and crisis - and the boys aren't happy with some of Obama's more conservatives moves - Iraq etc. I fear if Obama doesn't bow to his handlers, they'll have the Secret Service let some monster get past security... It could happen - it's a Chicago Way tactic... If something happened to Obama it would cause a race war. Or worse.

Would conservatives be blamed? Would the lies about the 'vast right wing conspiracy' be played up in a strong totalitarian fashion destroying any chance of Republicans ever taking control back? The Chicago Way is rough...

Liberals feel the ends justify the means - how far would they go?

It would be a crisis the Ralm's of the world wouldn't let go to waste. The couple that got into the White House? They're not a joke or a punch line. They could have been a "test" to see if it could be done. Obama's our President - and as President of the United States he needs to be protected by the best, brightest and bravest. Conservatives need to stress that... The fact that the press wasn't all over the story about the party crashers at the White House (in a serious way) means the Dems didn't want it covered in a serious way... That's odd and worth a little tin foil...

Guys, don’t get giddy here. Wait for it. If they sense we are celebrating they will swallow the bill as is and pass it just to deprive us of a celebration. Just wait for it. My personal wish is to see the bill go down in flames while bammy is trying to land in Copehagen but can’t due to heavy snowstorms. Lets see if I get what I want for Christmas.

Let's not settle into a false sense of security. Until I see it, I will expect a RAT trick to raise our hopes, only to have them dashed.

Remember, the RATS march in lockstep.

I don't believe that the 'outrage on the left' is real for a moment -- it's a total sham, because if this monstrosity goes through, they'll get everything they want anyway at the end of the day.

Any GOPer hoping to get elected or re-elected that does not make repealing this garbage his/her top priority if it becomes law should be run out of town on a rail.

I'm joining hands with Markos Moulitsas, not because I agree with him on anything else but because I want to drive a stake through Obamacare!

Many of the true-believers on the left are now looking at this bill as nothing but a back-door corporate welfare payoff to Big Insurance and Big Pharma. And it does not deliver universal coverage OR cost savings which were promised throughout the entire Obama campaign. As one of them so eloquently put it on their blog:

“When Rush Limbaugh starts telling the public that this bill provides for long jail sentences if you don’t buy insurance, and we are going to counter him and say no, you are not going to get a jail sentence, just a whopping big fine....THAT is going to be our defense??”

The more savvy people on the left are starting to figure out how dangerous this bill really is for them.

We can take help anywhere we can get it to keep this monstrosity from passing. While I know the libs want the government to have more control and see this bill as lacking they just don’t seem to understand that what they want is not what the American people are willing to finance for them.

Us Teabaggers did carry the battle to them, but their side gets to slide the knife in.

I'm angry, WE should have that honor.
