Expect to hear a lot about gun control when the legislature reconvenes in January.
Senator Jeanne Kohl-Welles is among those who want to ban the sale of military-style, semi-automatic weapons. "These are guns that I don't see have any function in our society."
Kohl-Welles said she was prompted to act after the murder of Seattle Police Officer Tim Brenton.
"He was believed to be killed by a semi-automatic assault weapon. Of course, we also had the killing of several other police officers not by assault weapons. The point here is that we're having police killed in much larger numbers than the past."
The ban, which is supported by the Seattle Police department would cover all weapons that are capable of rapid fire and can hold more than 10 rounds in a clip.
Also supporting the ban is Washington Ceasefire, a non- profit organization dedicated to reducing gun violence.
The bill in question is called the Aaron Sullivan Public Safety and Police Protection Bill. Which is named for Sullivan who was killed by an assault rifle in Seattle on July 22nd, 2009.
If they all want to run off the edge of the cliff, I won't be objecting to anything other than all of the wasted time, criminally-squandered money and profound damage that they have inflicted upon America and her Allies during their predictably misspent majority in office. It seems that every generation or so, voters need to be reminded of how REALLY bad for the country the Dems are. I only wish that peoples' memories were longer.
That fact, just like most other facts, will never interfere with the Dems' eagerness to push their agenda. They figure that they can't wait and allow the emotion of the moment slip away when they can capitalize on it to push their Socialist agenda down our throats.
"Never waste a good crisis" I believe was a recent quote.....
Funny thing is that the drum-fed shotgun on the table is already illegal under Federal law (it’s a ‘destructive device’). The two TEC-9 types on the table are worthless jam-o-matics and no military ever used them.
(Phew, all mine have magazines.)
As I understand it, the perp in Lakewood used a fairly ordinary Beretta 9mm. Perhaps somebody can correct me on that?
But regardless... having, or not having over 10 rounds in the magazine was not a factor in the slaying of those four cops. The perp could’ve used a revolver and it would have still been the same. Hell, standing there at the table he could’ve used a 7-iron and it would’ve been about the same.
Good luck with that! (you freaking loon!)
Say WA? Evergreen State ping

FReepmail sionnsar if you want on or off this ping list.
Ping sionnsar if you see a Washington state related thread.
“These are guns that I don’t see have any function in our society.”
Just wait and see.
If I was associated with the Sullivan family I would sue her bovine ass off for using my name. She is one disgusting cow...
Can you tell what manufacturer/model the shotgun is? I, ahem, know someone who has a Saiga 12 with a 20-round drum that is completely legal in Washington state.
The Saiga isn’t banned because as imported it’s in a sporting configuration.
The shotgun in the pic is a “Street Sweeper” or “Striker” shotgun or clone thereof.

I wonder how old that photo is - Intratec went out of business almost 9 years ago...
Her's a few folks who would disagree with you you dumb old 'Rat biddy.
"The right of citizens to bear arms is just one guarantee against arbitrary government, one more safeguard against the tyranny which now appears remote in America, but which historically has proved to be always possible." - Senator Hubert H. Humprey (D-Minnesota)
HHH was a liberal's liberal, but he was still a patriot, unlike today's crop of liberals and Democrats.
"Among the many misdeeds of the British rule in India, history will look upon the act of depriving a whole nation of arms, as the blackest." - Mahatma Ghandi
"The Constitution of most of our states (and of the United States) assert that all power is inherent in the people; that they may exercise it by themselves; that it is their right and duty to be at all times armed and that they are entitled to freedom of person, freedom of religion, freedom of property, and freedom of press." - Thomas Jefferson
"They that can give up essential liberty to gain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety." - Benjamin Franklin
Put that in your pipe and smoke it... being sure to take the MaryJane out first.
Did we ever find out just what he was using?
Major Nidel Hasan didn't use an ugly black gun either. Just a semi-automatice pistol.
That actually is a Military Style weapon. It's not an assualt rifle, nor is it a semi-autoversion of one. It is however a military issue weapon, or at least a version of one, the M9, also by Beretta USA.
However, some AW bans would include it by features.
Yet another butt ugly liberal man beast.
How about we just ban all guns for convicted felons, and maybe die-hard democrats.
Not up for election in 2010? Or is Washington just that lefty?
