Leaders, Activists Throwing in the Towel in Copenhagen

COPENHAGEN — Has Copenhagen collapsed?

That seems to be the growing sentiment inside the city's Bella Conference Center, where officials, environmentalists and even delegates to the international climate conference began streaming out Friday evening. What began with excitement and anticipation two weeks ago ended Friday night with disappointment and anger for thousands.

"This is a sad day for my country," said Mama Konate, chief delegate from the West African nation of Mali. "We have worked very hard to reach this agreement. And now it seems over. Without a deadline, I don't know if we will ever finish."

The conference, the largest of its kind, attracted scientists, activists and human rights supporters from every corner of the globe, who believe that without a climate accord limiting greenhouse gases, glaciers will melt, oceans will rise and the weather will go so warm it could wipe out 50 percent of the Earth's species. Until Friday, they saw Copenhagen as their last chance to stop it.

"You can scapegoat the process. That wasn't it. It was the unwillingness of people to move around big issues: China on verification, the U.S. on deeper emission cuts," said the head of an NGO that does relief work in Africa.

A showman like Fidel should know. How's the daily Castro deathwatch going by the way?

CRISWELL PREDICTS:

Can our whirling, turning, churning earth last out the night? Our geologists tell us that the danger to Mother Earth lies not in the uncharted vast of outer space, but from inner-earth! ...

Here is what will more than likely happen according to geologists: Small tidal waves will play havoc for no reason at all. The surface of the earth will bulge ever so slightly and highways will slightly buckle. Foundations will tip, and floors will slant. When you pour a cup of coffee or a glass of water, the rim will not level. Telephone coin boxes and vending machines will refuse to work. Delicate instruments will go haywire. Elevators will go out of whack. Jukeboxes will be mute. Radio and TV will fail. All electric power, gas and water service will cease. And then will come the time when garbage cans roll across the street for no apparent reason.

Then and only then will you realize the advanced corrosion spelling the end of our Earth. The seas will quickly fill up with a gooey mass of inner-earth rubble. Our streets and city lots, farms, and deserts will bubble up like a festered oil, marking the complete collapse. Has this happened before? More than likely. And it will again happen in your incredible future.

OH NOZE!

President Bush did more for Africa than anyone, certainly Obama:

25 U.S. congressmen showed up at the summit, flying in on a Boeing 757 with Speaker Nancy Pelosi at considerable taxpayer expense. The delegation joined President Barack Obama and nearly 120 world leaders for the conference's final day.

"This president is very, very unusual," said Congressman Charlie Rangel. "His power of persuasion and his eloquence somehow brings together how the whole world feels. I think we are very close. I am optimistic."

I particularly like this comment from Rep. Joe Barton, R-Texas, in response to requests for aid from Third World dictators like Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez:

"The U.S. in the last 50 years has given trillions of dollars to the Third World. But to say they are going to be ravaged by climate change and deserve 'Greenmail' strains credibility."

Bwa-Ha-Ha-Ha!

Obama’s just not getting ANY love or respect. LOL

Castro mocks Obama visit to Copenhagen

Veteran Cuban leader Fidel Castro on Friday dismissed US President Barack Obama’s trip to UN climate change talks in Copenhagen as a “show,” and complained that the world's poor will shoulder the burden of any summit agreement.

Castro's opinion article, titled “The Moment of Truth,” also criticizes the “fascist methods” used by Danish police to put down protesting environmental activists.

“It is already evident that a great catastrophe threatens our species,” wrote Castro, 82.

Perhaps the worst part of the summit “is blind selfishness of a rich and privileged minority that intents to impose the bulk of the necessary sacrifices on the immense majority of planet inhabitants,” Castro wrote.

He opined that “for the chiefs of the empire (the United States), despite their maneuvers and cynical lies, the moment of truth is arriving. Their own allies believe them less and less.”

In the article, which appeared in government-run media, Castro quotes at length leftist Bolivian President Evo Morales and Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, who both spoke at the summit.

The conference, just like everything the left does, was about taking money from “rich White” countries and giving it to “poor third world” countries so that their leaders can go on being corrupt and keeping the people poor so that they can beg for more money.
