CBO: Real 10-Year Cost of Senate Bill Still $2.5 Trillion
The Weekly Standard ^ | 12/19/09 | http://www.weeklystandard.com/weblogs/TWSFP/2009/12/cbo_real_10year_cost_of_senate.asp

With Obamacare, you get the good, the bad, and the ugly -- except for the first part.

The Congressional Budget Office's score is in for the final Senate health bill, and it's amazing how little Americans would get for so much.

The Democrats are irresponsibly and disingenuously claiming that the bill would cost $871 billion over 10 years. But that's not what the CBO says. Rather, the CBO says that $871 billion would be the costs from 2010 to 2019 for expansions in insurance coverage alone. But less than 2 percent of those "10-year costs" would kick in before the fifth year of that span. In its real first 10 years (2014 to 2023), the CBO says that the bill would cost $1.8 trillion -- for insurance coverage expansions alone. Other parts of the bill would cost approximately $700 billion more, bringing the bill's full 10-year tab to approximately $2.5 trillion -- according to the CBO.

$2.5-trillion will buy a whole bunch of votes for the Democrats.

Sadly, in the process, America will cease to be, America.

I expect every Republican appearing on talk shows tomorrow will present this data, and more. Interested parties should buy national TV ads for tomorrow to present this data.

While it won't prevent cloture, it will affect the ultimate outcome. Tomorrow they will have everyone's attention.

Go for it.

it's important to remember that this bill would not go into effect in any meaningful way until more than an Olympiad from now. Thus, it is the American voters -- and not the current Democratic Congress or the current president -- who will ultimately decide its fate.

If this monstrosity passes, it can be picked apart, changed and made unrecognizable by a conservative and Republican takeover of Congress and the WH over the next four years.

We are run by a government of criminals who take the citizenry for fools. This could end up in a dangerous situation.

Okay, so let’s do the math. If the “new health care system” doesn’t save money, this entire fiasco must be about something other than saving money, right? Perhaps it’s all about our beloved government ELIMINATING our freedom to choose?

But it won't be. The chicken $#!% Rinos in the congress will then be afraid of being attacked with claims that "Senator or Representative X wants to take away your health care". They will cave because they are spineless and in the pocket of the lobbyists that represent those that stand to gain from this monstrosity. Republicans are no better than democrats, they're being bought by lobbyist dollars and not representing the will of the people that elected them. Have you seen any real fight from the Rinos in the House or Senate? FIRE THEM ALL

Golly gee, the Libscum worked up such an “ingenious” plan -— put nearly all of the costs off for 5+ years, then announce all these b.s. “10 yr. cost estimates” starting immediately......

.... and the Mediascum (which boasts noisily about supposed competence compared to web world) never bothers to inform the public......

This is one of the most disgusting combos of dishonest posing, financial fraud, and propaganda in American history.

Everything I said presupposes that many Dims and some RINOs will be defeated in 2010 and 2012. It will many new faces and new attitudes, and it's first up to the voters to start making the changes in 2010.
