Thad McCotter (R) Michigan, Chairman of the Republican Policy Committee was interviewed this AM on Fox News. Everything he said about the Democrats, Obama, national debt, Obamacare, etc. was in agreement with my hardcore conservative views of our Constitution and our Republic. But I would like to know what the rest of you think about him and the principles that he stands for!!
Here is the link to the Republican Policy Committee
I’m from Michigan and am shocked by how long McCotter has been able to stay in office. He represents one of the southern suburbs of the Detroit area. I am sure the Dems will be gunning for him again in 2010. Pray that he can hold onto his seat. He ain’t perfect, but who is....
You need someone who actually knows these guys from experience. So many of them say one thing and do something else.
I keep getting these really FIERCELY CONSERVATIVE begging letters from the RNC, the RNCC, and the RNSC, with enclosed polls so I can show how conservative I am when I send them the money.
It’s all a big fake, obviously. So, is the RPC any good? All I’m saying is that I don’t know, and that I doubt whether reading their policy statement means a damned thing.
Look at Newt Gingrich for another instance. Mr. Conservative shilling for Dede Scozzafava.
The beauty of the internet is that we can donate to individual campaigns and candidates that we approve of. Cut out the middleman.
We need good leaders.
Of course, since he doesn't speak in "bumper sticker", I'm sure many will think he's an effete elitist who just doesn't get it. He's probably toast.
The Republican Policy Conference is both ideologically conservative and a strong influence on the House GOP agenda.
Over at National Review Online they had a five-part interview with McCotter. You can find the interviews here: McCotter Interview
You will have to scroll down to find the interview. The first part is on August 31, 2009.
BTTT
In 2008 McCotter voted for reckless spending like the HOPE VI Public Housing Program; expansion of Freddie and Fannie; more subsidies for farmers in the Farm Bill Veto Override; paid leave for federal government employees; voted to keep Davis-Bacon Act in place; he voted for HR 7110, theStimulus Spending Bill; and HR 7321, the Automobile Industry Bailout.
I could be wrong, but it appears as though McCotter votes more like a moderate-liberal and NOT a staunch conservative.
“He’s well-educated, articulate and reasoned, (snip) He’s probably toast”.
If he gets pushed forward by his own party, he’ll prosper. If not, he’ll wither on the vine.
Please forgive my edit?
Thanks for your helpful comments...it is critical that we all plan carefully to take back our country from the DC Crime Gang!
I think McCotter is great! Sadly, he’s not even from my state, but I’ve enjoyed seeing many interviews: Smart, with a good grasp of history. He has a wickedly dry wit. Let him loose to debate any leftist and he’ll deliver a TKO in short order.
He’s often a guest on Fox’s Red Eye.
Thanks, reaganaut1 ! I live (sort of) near McCotter’s district.
