Nothing about plane breaking in two. One engine broke off, left landing gear collapsed, but nothing about plane breaking apart.

An American Airlines plane crashed and broke in two after landing (from the article).

I remember payiing $5.00 for a very tiny glass of coca cola at Pt. Dubois in Martinique. When you’re thirsty, you’re thirsty. There’s been a lot of unrest in many of the Caribbean nations (St. Kitts being one of them) and aside from the wild monkeys there, I have no interest in going back, but it is awesomely beautiful to see at least once in a lifetime.

The Little Rock crash was an American Airlines MD-80.

I remember United 232 that crashed in Sioux City Iowa, I got a call that I had to go to the airport bar. ( I worked for UAl at that time and was in Sioux falls SD for training) Once in the bar a guy was there drinking heavily. he said he was a passenger on 232 and needed something to settle his nerves. After checking the passenger manifest to verify it, I paid for the whole bottle and then had him taken to the hospital to be checked out.

Was the Hun even flying 10 years ago

He probably meant a Fokker F100.

BTW, the last time I saw a Hun flying was in the mid 80's, flown by the Turkish AF.

Thanks for the clarification(s). I couldn’t find anything on the search engines using the F-100, but the MD-80 rings a bell. I don’t think you can even find an F-100 on a pillar in front of an air station anymore!

My neighbor in California (1978?) worked the DC-9 line in Long Beach, but I think Douglas moved the operation to Oklahoma and he went with them. But my favorite airplane of all time was built in Columbus, buccaneer81. The coolest name ever (Vigilante) came out of Columbus also, IIRC.

I won’t bore you with that old Fokker joke.

Merry Christmas to all.
