Thank goodness she didn’t have or use a weapon.

Thank you Lord Jesus!

Nevermind that he’s the Pope, and nevermind that he’s Catholic, or even a leader of an important country.

Benedict XVI is an elderly gentleman and falls of this nature could have serious consequences to his health. It would be a serious matter for this to happen to anybody his age. If he were to break a hip it might never heal properly — and that often happens when the elderly fall.

What a horrible thing to happen.

I hope everybody will join with me in prayer for the Holy Father and his continued good health. He didn’t deserve this, not on Christmas or any other day.

Mentally unstable or not, I hope the Big Papa’s boys knocked the krap out of her. Tune-up first, prayers and hand-holding second.

It is probably understandable that everyone is downplaying this, but it certainly looks like the only reason she didn’t do more harm was because she was prevented from doing so by sercurity and others close to the Pope.

She looked like a cross between a monkey and a spider.

After reviewing the video several times it appears to me the woman did not knock the Pope down..she was taken down by security personnel before she reached Him.

She never touched the Pope.

Security was on her.

She was taken down about 1 second after jumping the divider it seems. But not sure if she got a grab at the pope or not on her way down. With the security thrust pressing to get to her, it is possible that they knocked down the group like a bowling ball, but the video angle was not conclusive. Looks like we will have 50 more views out soon, everyone was filming this like they almost expected it to happen.

It looked to me like she fell in front of him—probably as a result of security tackling her—and the Pope tripped over her.

Anyone else notice that the volume slider on the BBC video goes to 11?

Guess they like Spinal Tap.

It looks to me like she grabbed the crozier on her way down and that’s what pulled him over. He was caught off guard and off balance and probably had his weight on the crozier.

Right at the beginning of Mass! The devil never rests.

I disagree. It looks to me like she was able to grab his arm or, most likely, his garment and held on tight enough so when security tackled her the Pope was pulled down as well.

Why don’t you just make ten louder and make ten be the top number and make that a little louder?
