Islamists claim killing of Russian priest

(AFP) – 7 hours ago

MOSCOW — An Islamist militant group based in Russia's North Caucases has claimed the killing last month of an Orthodox priest who was an outspoken critic of Islam.

"One of our brothers who has never been to the Caucases took up the oath of (former independent Chechen president Doku Umarov) and expressed his desire to execute the damned Sysoyev," said a statement on the Kavkazcenter.com website.

Daniil Sysoyev, 35, was killed on November 20 when masked gunman walked into Saint Thomas's church in southern Moscow and shot him four times.

Doku Umarov emerged as the leader of the remaining active rebel movements in the North Caucases in 2007 and is considered enemy number one in the region by Russian authorities.

The statement on the Kavkazcenter.com website, which is often used by militants, accused Sysoyev of writing several pamphlets insulting Islam.

It warned "those in the future who defame Islam and insult the religion of Allah will suffer the fate as Sysoyev."

The religion of peace at work again.

I wonder if this sort of thing happened often during the Soviet era. While I know there was no religion allowed during that time, were muslims able to attack the USSR with the type of impunity they enjoy in this day and age?

Islamists can’t stand criticism because it opens the eyes of the uneducated masses to the terrible results of being Muslim. So the religon of peace kills off opponents, murders them in any convenient manner, and moves on. Yes sir, one of the great religons of the world.....

I’ve always been skeptical of critics claiming that Russia commits “human rights abuses” in Chechnya.

Perpetrated by the bloody savage Chechens, no doubt.

And in Moscow itself, not somewhere in Kavkaz region.

Does anyone think that keeping silence about Islam will save them? Listen, fellow “infidels”, when you so much as BREATHE you are “committing aggression and persecution against Muslims” and deserve to die for it.

Just ask Nidal Malik Hasan.

It warned "those in the future who defame Islam and insult the religion of Allah will suffer the fate as Sysoyev."

and the New York Times "reporters" wet their paints and immediately rechecked all their current news stories to make sure the religion of many broken pieces was falsely stood up on a pedestal.

Exactly. That whole Russia “bad in Chechnya” thing was nothing more than the State Dept and EU apologists for Islam, siding with their Jihadi buddies.

Substitute the USA for Russia, and New Mexico or Arizona for Chechnya,,, then insert the same actions of the Chechens. Tell me we would have done anything different.

I think we can all guess what would have become of various Muslim and/or Chechnyan groups in the former Soviet if they went around killing Russian priests, blowing up Moscow apartment buildings, attacking theater-goers and let us never never forget the atrocities committed upon children at Beslan.

The Soviet Union was always a regime of oppression. Differences were in the degree in which things were enforced. To answer your question directly, any kind of clandestine activity, even without use of arms, would be automatically suppressed. But, of course, even in the Soviet Union murders happened, including murders committed with (forbidden except for servicemen and hunter long-arm) firearms.

Religion as a private activity was allowed. A few paces of worship were allowed to exist, but hardly ever new ones were allowed to be built. There were Christian churches, predominantly Orthodox, mosques and synagogues that operated — not enough to cover the true needs but in some measure. The Orthodox Church was treated better than other confessions, except in the early days after the Bolshevik Revolution, when it resisted the Reds.

Outspoken priests existed all along. I had the privilege of knowing Fr. Men’, who was also murdered, for motives unknown. The authority tolerated purely religious teaching especially so long as it was oral during sermons. Whatever went into the cultural or political arena was treated with suspicion, and if it could not be controlled, either suppressed by law enforcement or some accident would be arranged to silence the dissident.

I know little about Islam in the Soviet Union. The traditionally Muslim population was large and quite docile. I never heard of any Muslim extremism or dissident mullahs, but then I never lived in those areas. The radicalization of the Muslims of the former Soviet Union happened after the USSR broke apart.

The world will do everything it can for the fake problem of “global warming” or “climate change”, but they will do nothing for the very real problem of Islamism.

Russians have been defending themselves against Muslim hordes for centuries.

In addition, many muslims practiced their torture skills in the hierarchy of the Soviet apparatchik system during the latest oppression of the Russian people of the 20th century.

NO... this latest uprising of the muslim hordes has more to do with Saudi/OPEC money funneled into Muslim infested regions than anything else.
