During the general debate on the health care legislation that recently passed the Senate, Senator Max Baucus, Democrat from Montana, took to the floor of the Senate and engaged in a drunken tirade. Oblivious to the fact that he was slurring his words and mangling his sentences, Senator Baucus shouted down opponents as he let loose a rambling, and at times incoherent, tirade against those dastardly Republicans who refused to be bipartisan.
This drunk is the Chairman of the Senate Finance Committee, charged with overseeing our taxpayer dollars. As is clearly evident from this video, the less than honorable Baucus should not be in charge of a toll booth, much less have a say in the crafting of legislation that will affect every single American.
For shame.

2010 elections will be way too late . We need a national strike NOW and we need to use the tactics of the Left back at them. Massive demonstrations , sit ins., boycotts , blocked traffic and aggressive protest are needed.2010 elections ??? What make you think there will be elections in 2010 ? They are all pathetic - nothing but well-dressed thieves. A reckoning is coming and they are gonna be mighty surprised. And I'm not just talking about the 2010 elections.

I was watching the late night c-span rerun of this the day it happened. I was yelling at the tv. My husband walked in the room, watched for a minute and commented, “Obviously he had a few too many cocktails before coming to work...”
I wonder how often the late “sainted” senator Ted Kennedy was drunk on the job........

I love swatting ‘RATS as much as the next FReeper, but I’d look before I lept on this one. The slurred speech could be from a speech impediment or neurological condition (e.g., a mild stroke or Parkinson’s disease) and if so, we’d look like jerks. I’d suggest getting some corroboration before attacking him as a drunk.
(Of course, if does have a neurological condition and has been concealing it from his constituents, the coverup is a legitimate issue.)
Good grief! I love how the DEMS talk about bipartisanship, when it is they, who in reality, won’t work with the Republicans. Any amendments they put forth or ideas are shot down, or voted down. They want them to take up their banner, but, refuse to pay any attention to what the Republicans want.

The beginning of the tirade isn’t on the video—Baucus was yelling at McCain who had just finished speaking and was trying to leave the chamber.
I watched Baucus for hours during his committee’s discussion of the bill. He has no speech impediment. Stop making excuses for these jerks who are drunk on power.
I know Democrats have a bad habit of repeating phrases but Baucus went on non-stop saying the same thing over and over.
