The whole fallacy of your diatribe is assigning nationality to Al Qaeda. Their loyalty is not to any country, but to an ideology.
Yet, they operate within countries and in the case of Afghanistan, were given safe haven and a place to openly train.
In the case of Iraq, the point was to prevent an even worse attack as several sources indicated quite possibly could happen.
It isn’t “nation building” to depose despots and give someone the security to set up their own free governance.
I suggest you stop listening to kook congressmen and pundits and do some actual research beyond reading left-winged headlines.

So we hanged the President of Iraq and kissed the butt of the King of Saudi Arabia. The irony and hypocrisy is not lost on the American Public. The trust factor has diminished among the people of this Nation toward their government...no matter which stripe it shows at a time.
When I joined this site in 1998...Nation Building was frowned upon and condemned as in the Balkins ect. There have been changes in the focus of FR over the years. More partisan politics and less conservative philosophy.
