Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano insisted Sunday that there was no “specific and credible” information to put the alleged attempted bomber of Northwest Flight 253, Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, on the federal “no fly” list.
Yet for the second time in a month, the Obama administration finds itself defending its lack of action against a suspect whose tendencies toward radical Islam had been reported to authorities.
The cases are, of course, different.
Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, who is the only suspect in the attack that killed 13 people at Fort Hood on Nov. 5, was an American being tracked for corresponding with a known Al Qaeda sympathizer. Colleagues had also raised questions about his increasingly militant beliefs.
Mr. Abdulmutallab, by contrast, came to the attention of authorities only when his father went to the US Embassy in Nigeria and warned officials about his son’s growing radicalization. On Friday, Abdulmutallab allegedly attempted – and failed – to set off a homemade explosive as Flight 253 neared the Detroit airport.

I watched her dance around the questions on Meet the Press this AM. Very disturbing to hear her say, “the Federal Family”. A completely unaccountable and in your face interview imho.

The incompetence of Barack Hussein Obama and his Black Muslim Presidency is limitless.
1. Obama’s FBI did not alert the ARMY that Maj Nidal Hassan was a Muslim Extremist.
2. Obama’s DSH posts super secret Airport Screening Manual on the internet.
3. Obama’s State Dept did nothing to revoke Abdul Farouk Abdulmutallab’s VISA after Abdul’s father told the US Embassy that his son was a MUSLIM Extremist.
Now this same incompetent Black Muslim Presidency wants to manage our HEALTHCARE!!!!!!!!!!!

I went to Florida last winter - I'm in my mid-seventies - long white hair that I wear up in a bun.
After I took off my coat, I had a long shirt on - that they insisted was a jacket and I MUST take it off. Fortunately, unlike in summer, I had a tank top under it.
Then I set the alarms off - the pins holding up my hair. I offered to take them out but was told to keep my arms out...while they squeezed and examined my ‘bun’ several times...Then it was my jeans. Without thinking, I had worn jeans - no belt - and the rivets sets off the wand.
I was made to stand, arms out, while they turned down the waist of my jeans and felt every inch around it 3 or 4 times.
I'm a speak-my-mind old women - but I knew better than to make any of the several smart-mouthed remarks that rose to my lips. I have no doubt I would've been hauled off to a holding room and missed my flight. As I was traveling with one of my young granddaughters, I couldn't take the chance as I have no doubt they would've no problems sending her off on her own.
Interesting that today passengers arriving from Europe aresaying they are ALL getting full body frisking, meantime, no change in procedures at airports here.
Janet is too busy telling people to be suspicious of veterans to address the issue beyond a few words.
"Not credible" because it was only Abdulmutallab's father who went to the US Embassy and warned he might do something dangerous, but it was dismissed because:
1. Abdulmutallab is a muslim.
2. Abdulmutallab's dad is a Nigerian.
3. Abdulmutallab's dad is a banker, so he was obviously just looking for a big bonus.

Just think what would have been done to the Nazi had this been the same case then as now.
Just a small correction, Mr. Reporter. PETN is not considered a "homemade" explosive.
The device could be considered an IED, but not the explosive itself.
This combination of explosive and detonator should be considered sophisticated (but perhaps crude), and should be seen in the light of the number of dry runs we have seen on airliners lately.
If someone belongs to an organization that tells the world that it wants to destroy the USA, that should be enough to keep the person off planes and out of the USA.
How dare you say that Obama doesn’t care about security. He is right now in Hawaii demanding that tourist short hop interisland airplanes keep a 10 mile radius away from his awesomeness.
