Iranian Protesters Are Dying For Freedom Where Is Barack Obama?
By Nile Gardiner December 27th, 2009
I wrote back in June about the shameful silence of the Obama administration during the mass street protests that greeted Mahmoud Ahmadinejads fraudulent re-election victory as President of Iran. As White House spokesman Robert Gibbs ludicrously put it, the administration was impressed by the vigorous debate and enthusiasm this election generated.
Or in Vice President Joe Bidens words on NBCs Meet the Press, describing Ahmadinejads victory were going to withhold comment I mean were just waiting to see. Embarrassingly for Washington, even many European leaders showed more backbone in condemning the Iranian regimes brutal suppression of protestors, with Secretary of State Hillary Clinton humiliatingly outflanked by her French and German counterparts, who had no qualms about speaking out swiftly and firmly against the election result and the actions of the Iranian government.
In the six months that have followed, Barack Obamas high-risk engagement strategy has simply encouraged more repression from the Mullahs, as well as ever greater levels of defiance over Irans nuclear weapons programme.
As Con Coughlin noted in an excellent piece for The Wall Street Journal last month, Obamas Iran diplomacy isnt working:
Iranian human-rights groups say that since the government crackdown began in late June, at least 400 demonstrators have been killed while another 56 are unaccounted, which is several times higher than the official figures. The regime has established a chain of unofficial, makeshift prisons to deal with the protesters, where torture and rape are said to be commonplace. In Tehran alone, 37 young Iranian men and women are reported to have been raped by their captors.

It’s muslim vs muslim. The sorry assed bastard doesn’t know which side to support.
Obama is on vacation in Hawaii.
Hawaii is about as far away from Iran as you can get in the United States.
Obama is on vacation a long way away from Iran ~
Is that for real? Can’t wait to see what they come up with for Easter...BO Peeps? Chocolate BO Bunnies? (shudder)
He’s on a holiday vacation from his perpetual vacation...
On Holiday at 4Gs a day for his digs and more for meals and his friends and all the whoopla of being king.
He can’t even figure out what to do when there was an attack on the country though it failed. I guess this Muzzie is trying to figure out how to save his face in the world of his fellow Muzzies..
What a sh*&bag.

Tell the infidels I’m surfin’...surfin’ USA.
When I lived in Taxachusetts it always amazed me how many educated people mocked the New Hampshire license plate. Live Free or Die. The Left doesn’t know what to do with that concept.
Imagine naming your puppy Barack 0bama and trying to hide if from the stupid masses as BO...Now if the spelling was Beau ( meaning beautiful in French) we might have been fooled.
Probably working on another nitwit plan to win over Ahmadinejad with diplomacy and mutual respect.
This is one case where I will give him the benefit of the doubt. The protesters can’t be seen to “playing into US hands”...I can’t us giving direct support but I hope that we are doing everything we can behind the scenes.
I would imagine that many good, middle-class, educated, Western-thinking people in Iran are starting to get very nervous about becoming part of a large sheet of translucent glass.
Obama is dispatching our Supreme Senatorial Dufus, John ‘F’in Kerry, self proclaimed PX war hero, exalted back stabber to America's Veterans, loving proponent to every enemy of America and most eloquent prevaricator to smooth things out.
If things don't work out as well as many hope for, we'll see him sporting a Long Face upon return.
Last I heard, he's on the vacation that I can't afford to take after paying for his.
At least "Where's Waldo" had various and interesting answers.
Or was this a rhetorical question?
Sorry I disagree. U.S. support is what they need. Any and all support from the West. It's a golden opportunity to throw some wrench into the regime - the greatest foreign threat to the U.S.
If we can't support them against the nuke regime, we can't support anyone. We're missing the last good chance we have.
