Third-grade photo capture's [sic] Obama's grin (3rd grade in Hawaii?)

A former Manoa resident sent President Barack Obama an old photo of the two of them taken while they were third-grade classmates at Noelani Elementary School, requesting an autograph more than six months ago. He recently received the autographed picture back, as well as a personally signed thank-you note.

Ok, let's say he spent part of a year in HI in the third grade in 1969. Why does this guy remember him? Photographic memory? Everyone that remembers someone in your 3rd grade class that attended for only part of the year raise your hand.

Try looking at your 3rd grade yearbook and you'll be surprised at how many memories come back. Yes, even of kids who were only in your class part of the year. And no photographic memory is required.

Besides, this kid remembering Barry isn't at all strange, especially since there probably weren't too many black kids in that school at the time.

What's REALLY strange is how so few who say they remember him during ALL his years in school have actually come forward...

The Indonesians most definitely aren’t Chinese. A lot of Chinese (as a result of centuries of trade and colonization from South China, but mostly from the mass emigration from south China in the 19th-20th centuries) live there as a cultural and racial minority, and there is considerable intermixing, but the native peoples are quite distinct in appearance, general aspect and facial features.

Leave aside all theories of origin, they just do not look Chinese. Spend some time in Asia and you will gain the ability to judge origins from appearances. The Asian kid in this photo looks distinctively Japanese, though he could at a stretch pass as Chinese, probably from North China.

Barry Soetoro’s legal name change to Barack Hussein Obama.

The B/C passed off on the net as Barry’s can not be his legal B/C. At age six he was adopted, his legal b/c would not have Obama Sr. listed as the father, Lolo Soetoro Mangunharjo would be.

Barry could go into court an legally change his name; he could not go into any court and have his adoption “reversed”. Legally, Soetoro is his father.

Where’s the B/C Dear Leader?

There were lots of cameras around in those days that could take a picture as sharp as this. Any decent 35mm rangefinder (available in the millions by 1969) could, just to start. My old Argus “brick” certainly can, and there were 2 million made of those.

KINDERGARTEN???? Kindergarten is for kids around 5 years old, not 8 years old. I think I missed something. Can anyone here help me???

This picture is from 3rd grade. Obama was only there part of the year.

But apparently they also went to kindergarten together, which would make sense if he stayed with his grandparents and they didn't move.

Good luck finding Scott. Cross-racial IDs can be tough.

I’m unsure of the context, it may have been from the above article, although I see no date.

I do not know how to ‘open’ the image I have saved, but ‘properties’ shows I saved in on October 4.
