Sounds like Shaikh’s life was in his hands when he foolishly decided to bring heroin into China.

U.K.: China executes British man
Relatives say man is mentally unstable and was lured into the crime
BREAKING NEWS
msnbc.com news services
URUMQI, China - Britain says China has executed a Briton convicted of drug-smuggling after rejecting a string of appeals from the British government and his relatives who say the man was mentally unstable and unwittingly lured into the crime.
The British Foreign Office issued a statement Tuesday condemning the execution of 53-year-old Akmal Shaikh. He was the first European citizen executed in China in half a century.
Shaikh first learned his death sentence would be carried out from his visiting cousins on Monday, who made a last-minute plea for his life. They say he was mentally unstable and was lured to China from a life on the street in Poland by men playing on his dreams to record a pop song for world peace.

facing the death penalty in China for possession of heroin That's the ticket! That is what we need to do in this country...for marijuana, especially. Now we all know that we Americans have a constitutional right of privacy re: the use of tobacco & alcohol; but when it comes to marijuana, acid, etc. OFF WITH THEIR HEADS! < /sarc >

I am outraged by this.
How come the Brits get their scum disposed of, but we get ours returned?!
DALI, China Justin Franchi Solondz, an environmental activist from New Jersey who spent years evading charges of ecoterrorism in the United States by hiding out in China, was sentenced to three years in prison by a local court on Friday on charges of manufacturing drugs in this backpacker haven. After serving his time, Mr. Solondz, 30, who is on the F.B.I.s wanted list, will be deported to the United States, where he faces charges stemming from what the authorities say was his role in an arson rampage that destroyed buildings in three western states as a member of a...

I wish that we had China’s policy on drugs. It would take care of our prison population and most of the White House.

Pretty sad story actually. This guy was approached on te streets and told he could be a 'pop star' in China and someone would pay his fare to go there. He was duped into being nothing more than a mule.
He has a record of delusional behavior. He wound up in Poland because he went there to "Open an Airline." He has no experience in airline operations or the money to do so - He created this myth in his head.
Its doubtful he had any idea what was the real motive behind him being given a ticket and a dream.
Pretty sad case. Just a warm body hired to transport drugs...a throw-away person to the crime organization.
