The US administration is heading towards placing "paralyzing" sanctions on Iran, Israeli Ambassador to Washington Michael Oren said Tuesday. Speaking to Army Radio, Oren added that although it was "too early," the US had also not yet abandoned the military option.
"The Americans attribute the highest importance to the Iranian issue," he said during the interview. "The US, along with other countries, is preparing to impose paralyzing sanctions on [Iran], and preparations are happening even now."
Oren went on to reject claims that US President Barack Obama was trying to downgrade relations between Washington and Jerusalem, saying, "The man is very warm towards us… I hope that during the next year he will also come [to Israel], and bring that [warmth] to the Israeli public."
Oren is in Jerusalem this week to participate in a conference with 140 other ambassadors and consul-generals.
On Monday night, meanwhile, a top US national security official said that the United States was reaching out to international partners in an effort to build support for a new round of sanctions against Iran's regime.
National Security Council chief of staff Denis McDonough told reporters the administration would revisit its options against Iran in the new year and was gauging the views of US friends and allies about "the next step in the process."
McDonough said both unilateral or United Nations sanctions were options.

Sanctions usually are passed down to the people, so the regime that’s being targeted does just fine in spite of them.
The quickest way to end the demonstrations in Iran right now would to take military action. Just like the battered woman who attacks anyone who challenges her beater, the Iranians will turn on anyone who attacks their homeland.

HA! obama would like us to believe his idiotic rhetoric will turn the Iranians from their missile and nuclear programs. Yeah, and simians may fly out of my rectum. The Iranians have spent years of effort, billions of dollars, and immeasurable international political capital to get to where they are: within sight of the finish line. Sure, a few words and impotent actions by a narcissistic socialist will dissuade them...not!

The Iranians have been pursuing a nuclear program for at least 11 months and Obama has done nothing to stop them.

It’s all a bunch of empty blather. The US already sanctions Iran. Any additional sanctions will have to be imposed by other countries at our behest - like that’s going to happen.
This is just wishful thinking. There is zero chance Zero will do anything serious about Iran. And the world knows it.
Paralyzing sanctions? What are we going to do do? Put them on Double Secret Probation?

Total sea an air interdiction of Iran would work but at the risk of world economic depression and world war. Then again sending them from the 7th century back to the 6th century would not change much within the Iranian borders.

You heard it here first. I will tell you when Obama will bomb Iran. He will do it right leading up to the Mid-Term elections in this country. That is when he will bomb Iran, so that he can lift his sinking poll numbers and hopefully sway enough U.S. citizens who will applaud his “patriotic” and necessary move to take out Iran’s nuclear facilities so as to keep the Dem majority in office through his coat tail effect. Mark my woids, this is his back pocket option to use if necessary, depending on the polls right as the Mid-Term elections are revving up. You know, those polls he never pays any attention to, lol.
