Dick Cheney: Barack Obama 'trying to pretend'
Politico ^ | December 30, 2009 | MIKE ALLEN

Posted on 12/30/2009 3:18:54 AM PST by maggief

Former Vice President Dick Cheney accused President Barack Obama on Tuesday of “trying to pretend we are not at war” with terrorists, pointing to the White House response to the attempted sky bombing as reflecting a pattern that includes banishing the term “war on terror” and attempting to close the Guantanamo Bay detention center.

“[W]e are at war and when President Obama pretends we aren’t, it makes us less safe,” Cheney said in a statement to POLITICO. “Why doesn’t he want to admit we’re at war? It doesn’t fit with the view of the world he brought with him to the Oval Office. It doesn’t fit with what seems to be the goal of his presidency – social transformation—the restructuring of American society.”

“Why doesn’t he want to admit we’re at war?”

Because that would be admitting his foreign policy magic touch is nothing more than a mirage.

Yeah, but the great zero was referring to conservatives.

Yes you did.

I expect MANY Americans wish we had Bush/Cheney back in charge now that it’s clear to all that the War on Terror is very much still going on!

Zero is trying hard (by his additional speech on the subject yesterday) to LOOK as if he cares, and to LOOK as if he views things serously - but the only reason he is putting on such an appearance is that his handlers evidently commumicated to him that the latest info coming out (that HIS CIA had interviewed the Detroit bomber’s father weeks before the bombing attempt) would make totally clear the incompetence and danger that MOST AMERICANS would now understand to be coming from his anti-American administration.

Vice President Cheney is the only one with guts.

What this wonderful man needs to do now is to spill the beans about this cheeky Kenyan bastard’s past and present secrets for the good of our country. I have no doubts he has all the dirt on him.

I love Cheney. He is a real man.

“Why doesn’t he want to admit we’re at war?" Because he can't. Barack Obama is an amateur. Think of the scene in the movie, "Spies Like Us" where the boys get into some surgicals and find themselves leading a major surgery in a hostile environment- They try like hell to stall the process of making the incision themselves without revealing their lack of actual qualifications. Also, it was not part of their objective to be in that situation and if they really wanted to meet Bob Hope as he played through, they could've called for a tee time at Pebble Beach, where no doubt they'd have hacked their way to the 19th hole!

I can't remember who, but one pundit said it best a few weeks ago. Obama and his ilk "see the world the way they want it to be, not the way it is."

How's that "dialog" thing workin' out for ya? The jackals of the world are hungry and couldn't care less about dialog, they see it as weakness.

Heard on the news this morning that Putin is planning to build more missiles in response to any anti-missile defense. The One has new threats growing around him every day, playing nice with our foes isn't going to make it go away. I wonder if he's feeling overwhelmed yet. Dubya played nice with the Dems with his "new tone" and has already said he regrets it. It only gets worse outside our borders.

Problem is 0bama is not pretending. I wish he really were pretending, then there is a chance and opening... but he is not pretending.

He has scaled back the “War” to a police, law enforcement issue. The War is in Afghanistan. Everything else is a law enforcement issue. 0bama is not pretending, unfortunately. 0bama will not be forthcoming with a word of warning to Yemen about al-queda within their borders. It is a Yemen police issue, not an international one, just a nuisance criminal issue.

There is another answer.

Obama knows full-well there's a war. He's just on the other side.

I disagree.

If you have been doing any reading, Clinton then Bush helped put us in this mess.

Among many things, Bush never tried to close the boarders. But then, idiot Rove was doing Bush’s thinking for him.

In fact, toward the end of Bush’s term, Bush wasn’t speaking to Cheney. Again, Cheney was man enough and smart enough to disagree with what Rove and Bush were doing…or rather not doing.

What a bunch of bunk. Reading what?

You’re still spreading the Left’s points that “Rove was doing Bush’s thinking.” You have nothing but your own little mind and people who used to be foul mouthed comedian(e)s or theater critics to back your accusations.

I remember in my younger years watching the very popular actor Rock Hudson back then in scenes where he is romancing the women like Doris Day and such, and I always though it just doesn’t look right, same thing when the TV show Brady Bunch rolled around, the dad just felt kinda weird to me.

Obama has the very same impression, like a poser that is fighting to appear normal but yearns to be what he really is but must wage a clever everyday act to conceal it.
