Obama gives Interpol free hand in U.S.
Wahington Examiner ^ | 12/30/09 | Editor

No presidential statement or White House press briefing was held on it. In fact, all that can be found about it on the official White House Web site is the Dec. 17 announcement and one-paragraph text of President Obama's Executive Order 12425, with this innocuous headline: "Amending Executive Order 12425 Designating Interpol as a public international organization entitled to enjoy certain privileges, exemptions, and immunities."In fact, this new directive from Obama may be the most destructive blow ever struck against American constitutional civil liberties. No wonder the White House said as little as possible about it.

As egregious as this is, Executive Orders are easily overturned, if the incoming President has the stones to do it.

Every time the WH and/or Democrats do things in secret or the middle of the night, we lose our freedoms.

If an agent of Interpol enters my house uninvited, or attempts to detain me, or otherwise acts to deprive me of my God-given rights, I will not feel bad about his death at my hands.

If they are not a duly sworn law enforcement officer of the United States and US courts (including the several states within their jurisdiction), come to me and mine with a proper warrant, I will not give them a free hand...in such illegal circumstances they will be treated as criminals and will get ball and wad.

Wonder what an Interpol cop looks like?
Not being funny. I have just never seen one.
Will they have an office near me?

But are they after Bush, Cheney and former administration officials?

This scares the hell out of me:

"To cite only the most obvious example, giving Interpol free rein to act within this country could subject U.S. military, diplomatic, and intelligence personnel to the prospect of being taken into custody and hauled before the International Criminal Court as "war criminals.""

What is to stop our enemies from loading up Interpol and take our country down?

Interpol really isn't in the business of arresting people. Interpol coordinates and carries out investigations on behalf of member states and entities such as the UN.

If Interpol were to investigate and collect information about it would likely carry out its operations in secret. You would never know Interpol had been looking at you until you were arrested by law enforcement authorities that had been provided the evidence Interpol had secretly collected about you.

Interpol is effectively a secret investigative service operating without judicial oversight on US soil.

If Obama had granted these same powers to the FBI there very likely would be open rioting in the streets.

Why would they need to do that? They've already taken over congress and the White House.

"Impeach the usurpering bastard for subverting the Constitution."

Why isn't this story all over the news?

Blowing up airplanes, etc., is nothing compared to the President giving up the legal rights of the United States.

Didn’t nobama promise us he would create a national police force that would be as well equipped as our military?

Is this what he meant?

Interesting... Googling Interpol and Obama gets lots of hits about the EO except most of the hits are to blogs, not the DBM.

Bump!

This is possibly the most shocking assault on our Constitutional protections since the Constitution and Bill of Rights were ratified. People had better wake up!

Maybe. I wonder if this immunity could extend to local law enforcement while working under direction of Interpol? And at what point does that immunity end? I certainly believe information would probably be covered, but what about enforcement action?
