The Obama Disconnect: What Happens When Myth Meets Reality
Tech President ^ | 12/31/09 | Micah L. Sifry

As 2009 comes to a close, and with it, the first year of the Obama administration, one big question seems to be hanging over the man who said he had "The Audacity to Hope," and promised his supporters "Change We Can Believe In." That question can be summed up with two simple pictures...

He will simply flee into the realm of soft issues, like global warming summits.......

What these politicians do is play a game where they simply choose to not mention Iran launching missiles, choose to not use the word “terrorism.” Refer to the ft. Hood terrorist as a lone actor and disconnected from the bigger picture which these crazy fear mongers are trying to pretend is real. What they do is down-play, ignore, divert attention, and flee into the realm of make believe pseudo scientific soft issues where they can hug their children smile a lot and talk about abstract peace love happiness crap with little push back or opposition. Whose going to attack you and call you a bad guy for wanting to save baby seals, whales, or now the planet?

Obama is doing exactly that. Fleeing into the realm of soft issues.

The reason Obama was elected is because he wasn’t George W. Bush, who, along with the other big-government Republicans, had given the middle finger to Reagan Conservatives for eight years.

Fascinating, OAF (not OFA) appears to be losing steam, and the Koz Kiddies are learning the lesson that Conservatives learned in 01 and 05, when they “need” you, you matter, when they no longer “need” you, then the DC Elites could care less.

*chuckle* I suppose the Kiddies, Moveon(out of here), DhimmiUnderground all supposed the effort, time and money they invested into the Obamaoistas would translate into a seat at the policy table and regular stroking by the Pouffe’s of the World.

Suckers..

He will not have that luxury for long.

Unfortunately for us, cold hard reality in the form of his weak response to terrorism is gonna slap him hard, and we will all pay the price for the useless idiots who believed in fairy tales spun by a no-nothing do-nothing fraud.

Reagan got criticized for “trickle down” economics.

Obama’s legacy will be “tinkle up” economics.

Had a Republican turned in such a performance as this, with the wealth of the citizens REDISTRIBUTED to the big investment banks, as Obama has done, he’d be facing impeachment.

Book it.

The article presents an interesting issue. This massive machine that helped to catapult the President up....can’t really be generated on a race by race in Sep/Oct/Nov of 2010. If I were a Democratic senator or representative....I’d start to worry about my state chances, and if I really have a chance for re-election.

The myth of the 2008 race has come and gone.

Another reason Obama was elected was that the RNC didn’t give us a leader as a candidate. McCain gagged me and I ONLY voted for the ticket as it was against Obama and that he chose Sarah Palin.

We need a conservative candidate who can explain during debates what they will do and why in a clear and direct answer. McCain just winked and thought he would be believed.

This article by Micah L. Sifry is important for what it does and does not reveal. There are important insights into the manipulation of young volunteers and how to keep them motivated (I believe, that despite the article's trepidation as to reinvigorating this base, these sheep will follow the goat enthusiastically in the ensuing elections.)

Furthermore, the BIG MONEY contributions are glossed over; any ties to Soros, arabian funding, and Chinese contributions have little to do with the article's message on grass roots organization. Nonetheless, without the Chinese, Soros, and Arab Emirate bag money, the nickle and dime $millions of the peons would have been insufficient to carry the day. What this screed provides in spades is the organizational cover a modern day, top down campaign needs to hide the real moolah being infused into one's coffers.

By providing the campaign watch dogs lists of 13 million internet volunteers, the Obama machine easily hid the mass of donations that came from overseas, duplicate credit cards. All the chicanery of minimum wage volunteers donating $749, which they either didn't remember doing or related how they got the money from some "uncle Bennie," have since dropped off the radar...

I believe that Dems played a large part in creating the McCain candidacy. We will need to guard against that happening again should the tattered remains of America survive to the next Presidential election cycle.

Unless the State elections rules are changed, where they allow cross over voting, to keep Democratics from voting in the Republican primaries, these worms might well keep the worst of the nominees at the head of the pack in the next elections.

The reason Obama was elected is because he wasn’t George W. Bush, who, along with the other big-government Republicans, had given the middle finger to Reagan Conservatives for eight years.

And Karl Rove was the "architect" of that middle finger. Of course, Hannity would never imply such a thing during his fawning interviews with Turd Blossum. That moniker is far more on the money than the other one.

I agree, this is an excellent article, especially coming from TechPresident. But I sometimes wonder if it is really possible to empower the grassroots in any meaningful political way. After all, power is power. Wasn’t it Stalin who said,”Power is never given, it must always be taken?”

The way I see it, there is only one way for the grassroots to take political power and that is to give every one a voice, allow all to speak and all to be accurately heard.

If OFA would have organized their 13-million member email list into an online deliberative body, their collective voices would have been very, very powerful indeed. Thank God, Obama’s team never had the political vision to do such a thing.

I suggest if the grassroots wish to be politically empowered, they should consider collectivizing ourselves into a few — as few as possible — online groups, with a goal of giving millions of fiscal grassroot conservatives their voice, allow all to speak and all to be accurately heard.

If a ten to twenty million member group could be formed and given its voice, I can assure you, it would be a voice no politician could afford to ignore, and one that would instantly check every special interests — which is precisely why such a thing will never to tolerated by the political elite of either party.

***********

True enough. And people were willing to vote for "anyone but Bush" because of all the years of bashing that Bush took (most of it unfair).

Then again, does anybody think the Dem public relations directorate (we used to call them "the media") might have helped shape the image of McCain into that of "Republican front-runner" in '08? They're already trying to tout Mitt Romney.

I thought Fred Thompson was the much better choice, but the press made him sound like an exhausted old man with no stamina. But one with a trophy wife ... hmmm ...

Next time around, we need to really stomp on the press the moment they try to influence our choices through propaganda.
