Who was behind the September 2001 anthrax attacks?
Washington Examiner ^ | January 1, 2010 | Michael Barone

Posted on 01/01/2010 5:03:46 PM PST by gusopol3

Here’s some news I missed.Edward Jay Epstein reported on December 21 that the FBI’s anthrax case has fallen apart. In 2008 the FBI declared that Dr. Bruce Ivins, who died an apparent suicide in July 2008, was the perpetrator who sent anthrax-laced letters to members of Congress and others just days after the September 11 attacks. The FBI’s investigation, apparently the most lengthy it had ever conducted, was directed primarily at scientists who had access to anthrax materials. But, Epstein reports, it turns out that Dr. Ivins did not have access to the sophisticated form of anthrax used in September 2001.

Is it possible that the state actor was and is known but that it would be politically incorrect or politically damaging to name it? Pakistan perhaps?

The thing that offers the highest political expedience in the face of a terror attack is simply to declare some American responsible, and then discard him/her/them.

That is, unless the attack really was perpetrated by American individuals with no outside help, i.e. Unabomber, Ayers, etc. In that case, they’ll be freed or imprisoned.

Timothy McVeigh? My guess is that if they REALLY looked into it, they would have discovered that he had muzzie help. But THEN they would be responsible to “take it” to a foreign power, and that might mean something nasty like a war, which is politically risky.

So they just killed him, and in a hurry, too. Same here.

You have to remember that when the 9/11 attacks occurred, it was just mere months into Bush’s first term.

The FBI had just spent 8 years under the control of Klintoon and Company where they were programmed by Janet Reno to do nothing more than target “domestic home grown terrorist”.

This was what they wanted and needed during the Clinton Admin.

After Waco, Ruby RIdge and Oklahoma City the FBI was incapable of conducting an investigation which would conclude foreign terrorism.

I think it very likely that a "state actor" WAS involved, and that the person behind the state action was hanged in Iraq a couple of years back. I think Saddam passed on the very small quantity of highly weaponized anthrax that his labs were able to produce to Al Quaeda, and they used it.

I've always thought that the idea of a US scientist perpetrator was nuts.

I believe it's pretty well established, via DNA and other evidence, that the strain used originated in a US Army research lab. IOW, not in Iraq.

Ray Robison - American Thinker

May 16, 2007 - More Evidence of Saddam-al Qaeda Ties
"An al Qaeda document newly released by the Combating Terrorism Center (CTC) of the United States Military Academy provides an extraordinary new connection to a previously reported order by Saddam Hussein to support al Qaeda attacks upon US forces in Somalia. It corresponds with other documents that show Saddam Hussein was using Islamic terrorists as proxies to attack US interests..."

November 09, 2007 - Startling implications of a Jihadi letter
"New light is being shed on the 2001 anthrax attacks in a fascinating open letter to Ayman al Zawahiri of al Qaeda, written by a jihadi living in London..."

"the letter contains a startling admission. Uthman tells us of a conversation he had with al Qaeda leaders before the 9/11 attacks in which he urged them not to use WMD..."

"Uthman says he tried to talk Mohammad Atef and Usama bin Laden out of using WMD in a terrorist attack to convince the U.S. not to retaliate in Afghanistan because it would ultimately spread to Iraq."

"Why would Uthman expect this? I can think of one salient reason."

"Because he knew that al Qaeda was planning an Anthrax attack with weaponized anthrax provide by Saddam Hussein."
