If you live in the east...Virginia and the Carolinas are great. It’s really not a very interesting place...
Been there several times while in the Navy and don't recall anything special about the place. Very expensive as I remember (try $5.oo a beer in a hole in the wall bar and that was 19 years ago). I suppose if you had enough money even hell would seem like a nice place to visit.

I lived on Oahu as a child. My brother was born there. I have stopped there many times coming and going in the Navy.
Save your money. The locals are not friendly, the beaches are commercial and everything is too expensive.
