Wishing economic ruin on the citrus industry is pretty low. Forecast for later this week is for an even deeper freeze. You wouldn’t be smirking if your livelihood were at stake.
And nothing is going to hush windbag Al Gore, especially a disaster in the state that cost him the Presidency.
Thanks.
Zero here and snowing. That’s on top of already 2foot approx already on the ground. Probably 2 or 3 weeks yet before temp gets north of freezing for a daily high. NOt gonna be a fun winter.
A coating of ice on the fruit will protect oranges from freezing temperatures —— believe or not.
You’re right.
In that case I hope cuba freezes over.
It being a government agency, I wouldn't be too sure they're not still using Teletype machines.
Wouldn't surprise me if they're still working on how to deal with that whole Y2K thing.
I have 18 right now just SE of Nashville about 25 miles at Stones river. A low of 10 expected. Personnaly I like it as it gets rid of a huge part of those summertime pests.
One very descriptive memory I have in East TN is when the oil lines cracked.(jan 21,1985)

Al Gore shuts up? What are the odds?
algore is not going to shut up any time soon. As long as he can bring in the bucks he will keep on doing his thing.

I once heard of a couple that hosted some ?Africans at their place during the summer or when most people would be using air conditioners. The vistors were so used to really hot weather that they asked their hosts to turn on the heat because they were freezing, They turned on the heat while everybody else has air conditioning, not quiet sure if I got all the details correct but you get the idea.
Last night was colder - NOAA is like a day late. Tonight is not as cold. Later this week is the one to worry about.
Thanks.
I remember that cold spell. It was no fun living in a house with no heater (who needed a heater in Miami?). State lost a lot of citrus trees, and I'm betting this winter may get a lot of trees also.
Shortly after the Battle of Franklin in the Civil War the temperature dropped to like 10°F or maybe -10°F, I can't remember, A lot of Confederates frooze to death as most of them had no tents, no heavy coats, etc. Hood had advanced way ahead of the tents etc. I seems like there was also a freezing rain during the time, and some soldiers had went to sleep on the ground and when they woke up they were frozen to the ground. What a bummer.
Oh man do I remember 85. We were living in Baxter, TN and it got -25 that Jan. We were living in a rented house that had no furnace. We heated with one Kerosene heater sitting the the central hall. Nearly froze to death. Wore gloves in the house. That was the month hubby lost the back axle and wheel on his van as he was on his way to New England for a gig. Ended his music career. That was the last straw of many in that career.
No, but we used to have them more often. This past year has been very hot with temps 3 to 8 degrees above normal on most days.
This freeze warning is for the Okeechobee area (barely S. Florida) in the interior sections which can easily get to 10 degrees below the coast.
One of these years I’m planning on seeing the Carter house in Franklin.
